Starting point pinion & gear ratios for a few cars...

Post by 66intheSky »

Hello all,

What would be a good starting point pinion for these RC10's with the following:

1st car

RC10 Graphite
Stealth Tranny
17T Double CAM Pro-Motor
81T 48P Spur
Pro-Line Bow Tie rears & 2.2 wheels

and

2nd Car

RC10 Gold Pan
6-Gear Tranny
19T Reedy Quad Spec
81T 48P Spur
Holiday Buggy Rears, stock wheels

Any ideas?
Thanks dudes...

The B4 came with a 17t Reedy Motor with a 24 tooth pinion, I would try something near that

I was thinking somewhere around a 22T for the stealth car, but have no idea about the 6-gear yet. Thanks man.

I wouldnt compare these trannies to the B4 car...the B4 has an internal ratio of 2.6:1, the stealth is 2.25:1, the 6 gear is 1.85:1...

So
B4 was running
81/24 * 2.6 = 8.775 (final drive ratio is spur/pinion * transmission)

Stealth
81/21 * 2.25 = 8.678

6 gear
90/19 * 1.85 = 8.763
