Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
Hi guys. I've been browsing this site for a while now but this is my first post.
I've recently managed to get hold of a NIB, partially assembled TRX-1. It is complete except for the wheels and tyres.
Does anyone know of an available wheel/tyre combo that closely resembles the original spoked TRX-1 wheel?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Re: Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
good luck finding original 6 spoke wheel.traxxas didnt produce those very long cause they were 2.0" in the rear and racer were running rad2 rim instead.
the rad 2 rim were 2.15"so they fit the 2.2 tires.those can be found on the bay and in some hobby shop all around the net.i know of tower and losi parts house
that have them listed.be aware that these rims(rad2)have less offset so they make the car a little bit wider.personaly i dont like the look of the rad2 rims on a trx 1.
as far as something that looks close,i cant recal any wheel that would look the part and still be availble if you think of somethink let me now.
here's mine http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13254
and here's the rad2 rims i'm talking about

if you ever want to run newer tire i would look onto puting tamiya DT02 rim 2.2s will fit and it will fit the car no problem.
hope this help and welcome on RC10TALK.

Re: Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
The Losi white 5 spoke wheels would resemble it somewhat (originally on the Junior 2). With the correct HPI bearing adapters in the front, they would work. Unfortunately finding them NEW would be probably harder than finding the TRX-1 wheels. If you could settle for used in good condition, they would be easier to find.

Re: Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
your right about the losi wheel they do look right.the problem is that the front bearing are not 5x11mm there 5/16x3/8 and the rear are for 3/16 shaft not 5mm.
they could be fit thought if you drill the rear to 5mm and if you swap out the front axle for losi jrx2's

Re: Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
Thanks guys for your input.
I thought about the Losi wheels also...but as you said availability is the issue.
I will scour the net and find something worthy! I don't have the cazr in my possession as yet so I can't check the manual, but is the TRX-1 front bearing 5/16x3/8 and rear shaft 3/16, or was this for the Losi?
Thanks again,
Steve

FWIW Scott Mongomery ran the bullet rims, they will be the least headache and are still available cheap.

Re: Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
Hi again guys,
Would the wheels from say a Bandit be a direct fit? To be honest, I don't mind the black chrome wheels from the VXL Bandit as a stop gap until I can find a pair of 6 spoke fronts.
Cheers,
Steve

Re: Wheels for Traxxas TRX-1
the rears should fit on no problem. the fronts have a hex mount, with the bearings in the spindle, so you'd have to convert to the new traxxas hubs, spindles and axles from the bandit to run the rims all around. Don't know if they drop on, you might have to trim and tweak to make perfect.
Konich, are you positive on the bullet rims? I know they make the rad2 rims that look like bullet rims, but are 1 piece, as opposed to the three piece bullet rims. Not doubting, just seems the one piece would be lighter for championship type racing.

trx-10 bullet? 3 piece, definitely. I got 'em in the basement. satin finish, though not much left anymore. actually trying to remove the rest of it so I can dye em black.
I'll snap a couple pics when i get a minute.
