Differences between B2 and B3?
I don't know if there is a thread about this somewhere, but what are the differences between the b2 and b3? They look very similar to me and I know there was a b2 to b3 conversion kit back in the day.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
check the 25yr thread for lots of details of difference between b2 and b3.
A BUTTLOAD of info so be prepared

shorter answer: front and rear arms, c hubs, spindles, rear hubs, slipper, front and rear shock towers, trans plate, top plate, rear arm mounts.

I pulled these from another thread a ways back, scans from RCCA.

Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
So basically a B3 is just an updated version of a B2? like a B2.1 kind of thing

If you change everything except the shocks and part of the transmission, is it really?

Its not like its a major change, its all geometry changes.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 3:25 pmIf you change everything except the shocks and part of the transmission, is it really?

I understand that there is a lot of compatibility, but they nearly changed everything.RustyBall wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 1:41 pmIts not like its a major change, its all geometry changes.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 3:25 pmIf you change everything except the shocks and part of the transmission, is it really?
The B2 and B3 probably have about as many common parts as the B2 and the Team Car/Worlds cars do. Nearly everything is an evolution of its predecessor.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
If the B3 didn't share so many parts with the T3, I could see a B2.1 argument.
The same could be said about the 10T and T2. They share a whole lot more than the B2 and B3 do.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
Yes, but if the T2 was just a 10T.1 than the T3 would have been the T2. Then it would make sense as a B2.1.
The B2 and B3 are like a B6 and B6.3 the parts are just updated for geometry changes. The arms, towers, chassis, slipper, bearing carriers etc. have all been changed for geometry.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
They changed the geometry of the parts. Like a B6 to a B6.3... Its not an entirely different car... Associeted made a conversion kit to go from a B2 to B3. So it would be just as easy to go from a B3 to B2. Most of the parts are compatible just different geometry.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 5:25 pm

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
Thankfully, they didn't do all of that ".1 .2" crap back then.RustyBall wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 7:40 pmYes, but if the T2 was just a 10T.1 than the T3 would have been the T2. Then it would make sense as a B2.1.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
If you count all the versions of the original RC10, wasn't the B2 like the 10th iteration?
The Worlds car could have been the RC10.9

At any rate. I'm of the opinion that if you have to change nearly everything to get to the new version, it is a different model.
And yes. I understand that many parts are cross-compatable between the two and that hybrids are possible. But in their complete iterations, there are just too many differences for me.

Re: Differences between B2 and B3?
Seems to be lots of differences but a good read for me as I will happily take a B2 or B3 or a B3 converted as I know these are getting thin on the ground!
