Heartbleed Bug - Are You Safe?

Post by Halgar »

Here are three links to help you figure out if the sites you frequent are safe and whether or not you need to change your passwords. I've already tried to check Clodtalk and RC10Talk, without success. I've PM'd Bill about checking things.

LastPass Password Manager will automatically log you in to any websites that you use frequently, instead of having to manually type in Pwords with each visit. Highly recommended by all users.

If you are unaware of the Heartbleed bug this link will tell you about it and how it affects you.

Lastly, LastPass has a free site checker tool to see if the sites you use have the bug fixed or not. Some have, some have not, some were never affected. I tried to check clodtalk, but it wasn't coming up, so I'll forward this to Bill to investigate.

Here are the links:

The checker tool says it only checks https sites. ClodTalk and here use the regular http protocol.

Good info though. I'll have to look into seeing if any of my sites are affected.

It is definitely scary knowing the little lock on the top of the screen means absolutely nothing.
Almost all my posts will be edited because I know what I want to write, but my fingers always hit the wrong keys.

One thing people need to know, is change your password on effected sites *after* the site has been fixed. You don't want your new password to be at risk!
