Savox 1251 low profile! Awesome torque and speed, reasonable cost.

old school value, hitec 625mg or 645mg for extra TQ.

new school, spektrum 6040 or savox 1257 / 1258.

Like the Savox for sure, general bashing though I'd pick up a Futaba S3003 for about $15

for bashing, i'd just pick up a big servo lot on ebay for cheap. then you'll have spares in stock.

my "race cars" never had anything but standard servos. if you treat them right, they'll last forever. servo savers, proper end point settings, etc.

doesn't matter. the 1251 is "small" and won't overload even the weakest BEC's ;)

(I run mine with a HW Xtreme stock in 2wd, no worries. One of my VERY fast mates runs it with a V3 in his B44.2...)

there's savox and savox. the hefty ones like 1258's and so pull a lot of current, so weaker bec's will collapse under load. but the 1251 (and the new 1252) is really a (relatively) low-torque servo (it's low-profile... small motor!) so even RTR ESC's will power them no problem :)

Thanks for all the replies. My esc is hobbywing v3 120 amp, I know it's a bit of an overkill but I run the same esc in my rc bike and have the program box to adjust various settings, thanks

Bumping this because I am in search of a low profile servo for my WOIN rc10 project and I'm wondering if the Savox 1251 is the only game in town with decent specs for speed and torque.

I'm usually a proponent of you get what you pay for, but jeez, I can get three of these low profile metal gear servos for the price of one Savox 1251.

Anyone use one of these or have a similar recommendation? I don't have to be sold on savox quality or specs as I have a 1258 and 1257 already, but trying to save a bit on the outlay for the WOIN and also my two B3's which also have a cramped steering servo area.

If you want the best then buy sanwa sdx801. Speed and torque really good and the quality is superb.

I have a spektrum s6070 in my 22 buggy and have been really happy with it. I have a protek from amain in my sc10. All of my old school stuff has matching old school servo's because they have room enough for a servo saver.

That brings up an interesting point, with the titanium gears in the Savos, is a servo saver necessary? If it were bashed/yanked hard enough where under normal circumstances a servo's internals would be damaged, would it take the abuse?

Losi and Associated don't seem to think so. I do know however with just a regular plastic geared servo it took about three hits to take it out in my sc10. My protek has been through two race days so far and is still holding up and I expect it to for some time. I know lots of guys at the track have the same metal geared servos that are multiple years old in their 1/10 scale stuff.
