Cougar wheels in acetone??

Post by Headling »

Hi Guys, sorry if it's been asked before but is ok to put Cougar 1/2 wheels in acetone to remove the old Tyres??

Also any tips on removing paint from the wheels??

One set could do with being a bit whiter, can I bleach the wheels? Or any other ways to get them bright White again??
If in doubt go flat out!

I'm fairly certain that the Cougar wheels are fine in acetone. Seems like I did some a couple of years ago. Might be best to try it out on an out of sight spot with a drop or two (inner rim maybe?) As far as paint goes, there are a nuber of ways to remove it. If the acetone doesn't take it off, Easy Off oven cleaner in the yellow can, brake fluid, or Super Clean (Purple automotive degreaser) will also work.

In addition to what Redscampi said, if you are in the UK then Fairy Power Spray is similar to the US Easy oven off.

If it's either the 2.0" Topcat/Cougar/Procat rims then you wont have any problems. Even the 2.2" Aerodiscs seem to cope well enough with the acetone.
