Stealth Transmission questions

Post by esaresky75 »

Trying to learn about the stealth transmission. So reading the sticky "25 years of RC10", am I correct the stealth came in white and black plastic? If so, how do you tell a non-stealth from a stealth? What make the stealth special? I can ask a few more questions but will wait in case there is already a thread on the subject.

Thanks

Well the original RC10 had a 6 gear transmission. It's blocky looking. All the Stealth transmissions had 3 gears. If I'm not mistaken, the early models were white. The ratios changed thru the years and models. You'd have to do a search to find out which is which. I have a three or four laying around and while they're all black, they each are different.

I was doing more research. I found this info, is it correct?

Original stealth ratio 2.25:1
B3 Stealth 2.4:1
B4 Stealth 2.6:1

6 gear 1.83:1

Those are correct. Also, the B3/T3 share trannies. Don't forget the T2 which had a 2.6 also. Several guys here have built buggies based on the T2 chassis as well, just shortening the nose plate for a buggy wheelbase (and the obvious suspension/wheel/tire change). AND there's the RPM change boxes for stealth. One had a 1.96 and the other had a 2.65. The 2.65 is still available, but not the 1.96. (unfortuantely.) There's lots of other trannies too, but I won;t get in to that.
