Re: RC10B4.1 Factory Team Worlds Kit by Slotcarrod
So with the release of the RC10B4.2 now. The second worlds car that I have will be my runner and the one shown above will go in the collection! The B4 Worlds was so short lived!
These are all (but the heavy hex's) FT options and B4.2 parts to bring my kit up to spec!

As a long time racer, I have always had the mindset of weight reduction, less rotating mass and less unsprung weight! (For my race cars, not me! Although it would be nice to lose a few pounds! )
Here is the stock top shaft! 10.3 grams of top heavy, rotating mass!
This is an interesting top shaft from MIP! 4.0 grams

I didn't like the MIP top shaft, it wore too quickly and was useless after a couple of meetings. A Hammad Ghuman style top shaft would be the perfect solution.
Carbon for high grip tracks and to increase responsiveness.
Plastic for low grip and bumpy tracks, also easier to drive.
I wish AE would make a mid mount option as on extremely grippy tracks the mid mount cars accelerate better out of the corners. Hard to keep the front end down on rear mount cars even with low punch and slippers set on the looser side.

Did you run it dry or with lube?

I ran it dry and it didn't like it. Might last longer with a bit of grease though.

I wish one piece top shafts were more popular. I hate forcing gears onto shafts, and the pin is just one more weak spot.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

B4.2 has a plastic front suspension mount, at least mine did,
Make sure all your shock caps fit the aluminum shock mounts. I had one in my B4.2 kit and one in the shocks I bought for my RC10 runner that didn't fit. Interestingly enough, they were both from front shock bags.

But it's blue! Had to have it!
My thinking, and you will see more later, is to have a lighter car so I can add weight where I want it!

I run a shorty pack in mine... Plenty of places for weight in my car.
Re: RC10B4.1 Factory Team Worlds Kit by Slotcarrod
I tried that last year and really like it! This year i'm going with a regular size light weight 25c pack from Reedy.Orange wrote:I run a shorty pack in mine... Plenty of places for weight in my car.

I've heard to only use those light weight shafts with a 17.5 or smaller motor?slotcarrod wrote:As a long time racer, I have always had the mindset of weight reduction, less rotating mass and less unsprung weight! (For my race cars, not me! Although it would be nice to lose a few pounds! )

I've been running the aluminum MIP top shaft in my t4.1 basher with a Novak 8.5 turn motor running 3s and 2s Lipos with no problems for a year now. Still looks as good as new. I do run a bit of silicone grease in my stealths.

How does this stuff look after many runs on it?
