back in black rc10

Post by scr8p »

well, this one started out as a real POS, but it has been resurected. the only thing not new on the car is the chassis, nose plate, and the shock towers. the chassis was pretty rough so i threw it in the glass bead cabinet, stripped off the anodizing, and gave it a coat of satin black. it still has some scratches and extra holes in it, but when i find a new one i'll replace it. i still need a motor plate, and a set of black tq wheels. i'm going for a stealth look.

Lookin good. Did you powder coat that chassis, or paint it?

You need to get a little driver figure for inside the body, and put a Darth Vader head on it. If the Dark Lord of the Sith had a buggy, that would be it. 8)

i had put this one on the back burner until i accumulated more parts. i picked up a nip chassis, a nip nose plate, a nip motor plate ( thanks hoopty ), carbon fiber trans brace, and nip f & r worlds shock towers. still got to get the black rims, tires, body and wing, but at least the chassis is finished.

Scr8p I gotta ask, where in the world did you find nip front and rear world's shock towers?! Are the the repros or something else? Then again, where did you find the chassis and nose plate lol. I've been looking for stuff like that for awhile with no luck but your new ride came out great!

i got the shock towers last week from a guy i used to race with. actually, he was the race director. i saw him at a car show the week prior, and he said he had a few odds and ends, if i wanted them, i could have them. :D there's alot more than just a couple things, so i really lucked out.

as for the chassis, i won that on ebay a little more than a month or so ago. the nose plate came from a parts lot i won on ebay. it also had 2 gold ones in it, too.

Thanks buddy, but if you find one, you will be very lucky because it hit the market a few months before the B2 came out and I think (I may be wrong) it was only released in a limited series. As for the shock towers, the front one is no more available for a long time, but the rear one was still available at Tower a few months ago, but sadly discontinued now...

Did you sell it? If yes, it's pittyful... Could you tell me what is wrong with mine in comparison with the original? I guess the shocks were grey teflon coated with black caps... as for the rest, I really don't know cause I bought it on Ebay and it was missing the tranny, wheels, shocks... do you think for example the only few white parts remaining are original? Did Associated sell it as a kit or as a conversion kit? Thanks for your answers

no, it wasn't my car. i built it for a kid when i worked at a lhs in the early to mid 90's. his car was the same as any graphite team car, it just had that chassis instead of the original one. his had all of the white suspension and chassis parts, and the normal shock towers. it also had the hard coated shocks with the black caps.

to my knowledge, i don't think they made a graphite worlds car, but i have been wrong before.

Hmmm, I used to work at a hobby shop as a kid too. I wonder how many of us did?

I worked in a lhs too! Sure was better than a grocery store. Little did I know how those few years would shape my hobbies forever ... RC cars led to full size race cars and now back to rc ... who'd a thunk it.
