RC10GT Re Release Spur Gear Issues.
Is this going to be an issue: https://youtube.com/shorts/filLG4qLqB8?si=EFzpK8ff0L5bKm0R ? The spur gear is behaving like it is potato shaped if you look closely. Thanks in advance.

Check the fit of the back of the slipper clutch on the top shaft of the transmission. This can happen when the the rear plate is not fully seated on the shaft and pin.jackdc100 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 1:40 am Is this going to be an issue: https://youtube.com/shorts/filLG4qLqB8?si=EFzpK8ff0L5bKm0R ? As well it's not a big problem, because my cars do this and they run fine.

I noticed even after seating mine the gear still rubs the arm, and I'm pretty sure I remember the original trucks were pretty close too. Shaving a very small amount from the arm fixed mine.

Ok gotcha. I guess I have to pull some stuff apart. All part of the fun:(JosephS wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 1:49 amCheck the fit of the back of the slipper clutch on the top shaft of the transmission. Yeah, I might do that when I take the slipper assembly apart. Thanks!

Trying to remember if there were thicker top shaft spacers in the GT trans? The OG trans cases allowed the thick 7669 spacer on both sides of the top shaft. If so, then you could also use the thinner 3/16 axle shims to space the top shaft a little more in.

The shaft actually looks good now that I have it apart. I has something to do with the hex adapter or the disks that are part of the slipper. I am also thinking that the roll pin might be bent unevenly from inserting it slightly. I reassembled it and it is a little better. If there is a little slop here is it likely to be an issue? Is this typical with these? I don't remember this as being a problem with the one I had in the 90s. It was almost 30 years ago though.

Re: RC10GT Re Release Spur Gear Issues.
A little slop is probably okay. Main thing is to make sure the top shaft pin is tight. If the pin is easy to install, especially after taking it apart a few times, it will also be easy for it to back out as well when running since it is not captured by the slipper hub or brake hex.

Are the modern racing kits better than the re-releases or is it a pretty similar situation?
