Steering servo for 1/10th buggy racing

Post by seismic »

25 years ago when I raced, all the pros used a KO FET steering servo. It was very quick for its time (something like 0.01 sec or something like that). Was is the steering servo to have today if racing competitively and how have servos developed since then?

They are digital now vs. analog...
plus some are high voltage....extremely powerful, like10x more powerful than back then. Yours back in the day was probably .10 sec not .01....nothing goes that fast now that i know of. For racing get u a Savox 1257 or 1258 and call it a day....very reliable, powerful and fast

I think you are correct about 0.1 sec. my memory fails me here. Ok - Savox is the way to go. Will definitely have a look at the 1257 and 1258.

While we are at it - what is a top-of-the-line radio controller to get? Back then it was Futaba.

Another vote for Savox here, I use the 1251MGs in most of my vintage race cars, they’re low profile so don’t take up as much room.

I’m not sure on radios, I’ve used Spektrum for land and air models for a number of years now and never had a issue.

I also use the Spektrum DX5R Pro but Futaba still has top of the line stuff along with Sanwa (Airtronics) and KO Propo
