how to get from hydra-drive to dual slipper using modern...
I'm thinking of maybe putting some effort in getting an old xx back into running shape.
It has a hydra-drive in it already, but not in a very good condition, and I don't have spare spurs to use with it.
I think I've read about it being possible to use a dual slipper such as the tlr22 one, or B4 (5?) by buying some extra parts.
Can somebody please tell me which part numbers to look for, and what spurs I can use with them?

I think (from memory), you only need a different spacer to run the double slipper set up. You will need the double slipper plates, pads and AE or Losi spurs (get the right pads for the spur). Then use the spacer/springs nut like normal.
I know mixing AE and Losi is in some eyes a no-no, but the V2 AE plates and V2 spring are awesome, I use them on many different cars now.

I think 22 spurs work from memory but need the hex slipper pads to go with. Look up both manuals on oldlosi.com and compare the xx with xxkw or xx-cr for reference and see whats different. I cant recall exacltly been a year or 2.

yeah, pretty sure you could use a spacer in place of the hydradrive and use the losi spurs with the factory slipper. the main shaft is a double D, so you should be able to use b4 style slipper clutch and spurs with the proper amount of spacers and springs.

Re: how to get from hydra-drive to dual slipper using modern
hello Erik,
Are you just trying to use the newer slipper and spur?...or are you also trying to use the hydradrive with the modern slipper?
I recently built a jrx racer with a XX trans. Spurs are getting expensive and harder to find. I wound up using the double slipper...which was a direct fit.

Roger

Hydra drive with modern slipper? I didn't think that 'd be possible.
I'm on a business trip in the us and hoped to pick up some parts: old and new to get this car back up and running. But sofar I haven't had succes with either. It looks like I may chicken out

the ebay link from Roger above gives you everything you need, and a couple things for the spares box as well.

It does; as far as the new parts are concerned. I do need a couple parts: missing or broken, to fix the rest of the car too.

Re: how to get from hydra-drive to dual slipper using modern
Picked up a very ugly looking XXT yesterday; rusted, bent turnbuckles, 3 missing springcups, no body, nor front body mount and a broken front bulkhead, and lots of grime and dirt.
It does however have fully intact replacement parts for all the ones I was missing or are broken on the XX.
I took it apart and cleaned it all up: in the bathroom sink in my hotel and with showe gel
On top of the things I picked up right-away it turned out to have one torn shock seal. But further, it appears spotless. The diff is set a little tight but every gear looks new and the hydra-drive is complete and in good shape.
The bearings will get a good cleaning and oiling when I'm back home and then ... I need to get thinking of where I want to go with it : mid motor conversion or closer to original?
