Hi Guys,

The Tower Pro MG995 was well known to be s**t.

The replacement Tower Pro MG996R is the one to get.

I would like to see someone who races, who is not biased, use one and give us all a genuine review.

Are they are good entry level servo?

I use mine for running at home on the street.

Cheers, Dave. :)

I can't comment on the Tower servo but I've had great success with the Savox low profile metal gear servo. Works great and isn't ridiculously priced. Tons of torque and speed!

I race the 1251mg in 2wd... but I'd feel a bit concerned dropping it in that setup. Although I've never broken one myself and the servo has delivered outstanding value for money for me, it has a reputation of chewing gears... then again for the price... ;)

I tried getting away with cheapo servos when I first found rc10talk and got a gold pan up and running. I think I had a bag of recycled Futaba 1980s marginal servos for their day that I got on ebay. They were all piss poor with lazy effort for my steering but after getting a modern savox in a gold pan, I'll never go back.

In hindsight I regret subjecting myself to bad electronics nostalgia when I got back into the hobby because excellent servos, brushless motors and esc's, and lipo batteries make it so much more enjoyable.
