Losi XX Retrofit Transmission & Friction Slipper A3050

Post by LosiXXkid »

It appears that Apex Models, Revolution Models and Wheelspin Models (all in the UK) are advertising the Losi XX Retrofit Transmission & Friction Slipper, part # A3050, for exactly the same price but what I want to know is would anyone (on here) actually buy one? And what price would it actually have to be to make it more palatable?

And has anyone (on here) actually bought one???

Can't see it happening myself but then again.....!

In each listing it is marked as 'shadow stock' (or similar) - going by my tel. conversation with Wheelspin Models when I ordered some shock cartridges (which still haven't arrived) that means that this is an item that isn't actually at the store but available from the distributer... I would hazard a guess that there is only one of these left sitting somewhere in Horizon Hobbies UK warehouse?

Since I am still a 'dealer team' driver, maybe I should order it

I did have one of these spare BITD, I used to have a 'race' transmission and a 'club' transmission. The race had bearing seals removed on the inside and ally shaft, the club trans was stock and fully sealed. As to how much difference it made, who knows. But it also meant one could be stripped whilst the other was being used.

What car was it for Ben?..... I'm assuming that A3050 is the conversion kit for the JRX series of cars to swap the LRM gearbox to run the XX 'retrofit' gears/diff etc... the kit includes the gearbox housing & a new motor mount.

As Dan pointed out shadow stock is exactly what he said, item is not in stock but they can order for you direct from the distributor.

I've always found this to not be that reliable, more often than not the distributor has no stock also, so they then order from manufacturer. On past experience of ordering shadow stock, sometimes your lucky and it turns up in about 10 days, but more often than not it could take several months to arrive. You may also find when they go to order old stock that the item is obsolescent and no longer available, I tend not to order when something says shadow stock.

On top of that Horizon UK cleared all their old Losi stock about 2 months ago, hence the reason a lot of old Losi stock has been turning up on ebay UK over the past few weeks.

On a happier note if anyone wants the 2.6:1 LXT transmission which apart from the dogbones will also fit the JRX2, Pro and Pro SE buggies. Then DMS racing are showing four in stock and at half the price!

Hope this helps.

$222.49

Probably not worth it then!

look through DMS inventory of vintage parts, apparently they have a few sets of stock PRo se fronts and rear rims, and with exchange rate, still sounds cheaper than the ebay gold diggers. lol

You're correct Dan, sorry, I got confused - you could also by a complete XX transmission that came in the same box

Yes, that's the bad boy! All my RC gear (apart from the cars) got stolen at a National all those years ago, otherwise I would have still had this!
