Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
Have to grind the belt cover to allow the lipo pack to slide in against the belt channel. Just about any saddle pack lipo will fit,, then its a matter of a battery strap. Also a shorty lipo will work on the left side, and that allows room for brushless esc on the other side.
Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
I would rather run the saddles...seems more balanced to me....how would one attach a battery strap if the tabs are ground off?

I run a full lipo on the left side, Its a tight fit but does fit. I did change motor once and where the wires come out made a difference. I countered with some weight on right and car handles good. I didnt notice any weight problems.

Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
Lipo strap is made to fit in between the 2 notched tab areas. Its only about 1/16" or less that needs filed off. So, the lipo strap is located by the battery post, and by fitting in between the 2 notched tab spaces. Then it has to be around 1.5 or 2.0mm thick to work. I run one for shorty lipo. Still working on the saddle lipo straps.

Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
It's possible to fit saddle lipo's in the xx4 but you need to modify the battery hold down, the base of the body mount and the trans tunnel. If I remember to take pictures I'll post them later. Basically you need to ground off any ridges on the bottom of the battery straps and the bottom of the tabs on the trans tunnel (kinda hard to describe without pictures), and the base of the body post needs 1-2mm ground off of the chassis/body mount post. If I remember I'll post pics later

Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
I only had to cut off and grind flat the battery straps, and grind away a slight bit of material where the battery strap mounts on the upper belt tunnel. I didn't modify anything on the lower main chassis.

Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
Same here. My battery posts came with a flat side that locates to the inside, but that dosent matter. I never even tried to use the stock battery strap. The belt cover near the batteries needs to have approx 1/16 thickness removed where the stock battery straps locate, and only about 1/8" back from the edge. By trying to fit a hard case lipo in there, it becomes very obvious where material needs to be removed. It is minimal. My hard case packs would not allow the use of the modified stock battery strap. I pretty much have to make thin carbon straps.

Re: Lipos in a xx-4?
Just a thought... if the servo was swapped over to the other side behind the motor - could a shorty Lipo be fitted along the R/H side of the chassis? The ESC & receiver should then fit behind the servo?
Thing is I suppose the weight of the Servo/ESC & RX probably weigh as much or even more than the battery? So may not be as beneficial (to balancing out the weight of the motor) as first thought?
