12 scale hubs

Post by minreg »

Hi.
I have 2 12 scale cars. One has 2 hole hubs and one has 3 hole hubs.
What is up with that? Is it a brand thing or preference thing?
I dunno. Thanks.

Evolution. Two hole was the standard for many years. Then they switched. Some wheels have multiple patterns for both!

Everyone used the two bolt fixing up until Associated introduced the 3 bolt fixing on the L3, and everyone else had to follow suit. The 3 bolt fixing is the modern standard and is more stable than the old 3 bolt. Fitting new wheels on an old car is usually just a case of replacing the hubs with modern ones.

Hmmm. I would be happy to find a few 2 hole but sounds like they been gone for a long while. Guess I refuse to consider any RC to be obsolete.

These are the dual bolt pattern I referred to. Perfect for 12e but you would have to update the right side to make it compatible on 12i,L, anything that doesn't bolt the right side tire to a hub.
