A Stamp Goldie rebuild
Evening all,
I think I'm ready to embark on this adventure called RC10 rebuilding...I have collected most of what I think I'll need to get started on the rebuild of a gold A stamp Cadillac RC10 (suggestions or suggested changes always welcome!!). I am going to go with wide A arms, a Stealth tranny and JC Racing wheels for running. I'll prolly have a couple of bodies, though the first will be a Protech body with a bit of a surprise paint job. I've got a couple pics here of some of the pieces parts and progress I've made, now that I've finished another r/c project (documented in my blog, as this rebuild will be as well.)
The front end and wide A arms: I am a little curious about the front shocks...do I need longer ones than the stock units?
New Stealth trans: Stealth disassembled: JC Racing wheels: I also have MIP CVDs on order along with some miscellaneous screws/clips/etc.
Hopefully this week I'll be able to clean the nylon parts and then over the weekend do a peroxide bath soak for them.
Is there anything I'm missing? I've read about boiling the parts...should I do that?
Thanks.

Hello, a A stamp chassis is not the best option for a stealth runner, you will have to drill it. The RC10 with short arms had .56 stroke shocks, the wide arms version had .71.

Re: A Stamp Goldie rebuild
Thanks for the info on the shock lengths! I have a drill guide to drill out the chassis for the Stealth holes.
I am working in disassembling everything to clean, but it's been quite a while since I worked in one of these...does anyone have a suggestion on removing the roll pin from the top shaft in the Stealth? Thanks.

Re: A Stamp Goldie rebuild
I grab them GENTLY with a pair of small side cutters. Works great but don't snip!

Ahhh, yeah, I hadn't thought of that...need to work up the gumption to try... I have a pair of small ones that should work nicely. Thanks gomachv!

Re: A Stamp Goldie rebuild
Finally got everything disassembled so I could clean the nylon parts:
I now have a bin of nylon parts ready for a soak in simple green and a scrub with a toothbrush: Progress is slow for sure, but I'm getting closer to reassembly, so I'm pretty happy about that.
I have a pair of hard-anodized .71 shocks on the way for the wide front arms as well.

Noticed that the shock ends on the rear shocks had a crack on them:
Are replacements even available? Is the 'bay my friend here? I suppose I could wait until the re-re parts come out. The shock ends on the re-re look different. Ugly even. Yes, eBay is your friend. Easy to find with used shocks, not too hard to find new in bag but expensive.
