Goldie into Runner Build #2 - Stealth edition

I picked up a very nice condition stealth CE car to begin my second Runner build. This one is inspired heavily by the cars of Ruffy, JHarris and Eau Rouge.

First things first, my hats off too Bigjeepzz, he does FANTASTIC machine work. I am humbled and amazed.

The parts:



The plan: a racer that I can run either stock (17.5) or open 2wd buggy here locally in SoCal.

Started with rebuilding the shocks. All new internals and fresh pistons & oil.



Built the stealth using a B4 topshaft, V2 slipper plates, 81 spur & fresh slipper pads.

HOUGE steering experts, HELP....the center link hits the tie rod? I may pull the Losi steering out of my other car while I find a solution for this issue:

I have a Mamba Max Pro Speedo I will steal from my other runner car (the 6 gear), still undecided on steering servo.

Can you move the tie rod to the outside hole (Shock Tower) to give you more clearance?

Do you have washers under the steering bellcranks? if you do take them out. I use AE short black ball studs on the front end too, they give just a little more room.

JK I use the 2nd generation Houge bellcranks that have both ball-end mounts at the same lower level as the outside balls on yours. You have the 1st generation ones. I believe this mod to his molds was done precisely for this reason.
You can see in this image from top to bottom how the belkcranks evolved the landings for the ballends.
You could file yours down until you clear the shock tower ball ends. I wouldn't change the location of those ball-ends on the tower as it changes your geometry.
File or grind the high side down until it looks like the white ones in this picture.

My 2nd alternative (and backup) has always been to use the stock buggy bellcranks, I just add two small zip ties to squeeze the bow against the driving unit part that connects from the servo. I used the stock ones recently once again without any problems, until I found my 2nd generation Houge bellcranks, bearings and threaded tube bodies.

The oringinal Houge cranks work with the oringinal RC10 shock tower.

I thought I had read that, thanks for the tip. I will pull them off and attack them with the dremel. I know moving the camber link location would be the answer on a shelfer, but I plan on tossing this around the track and having fun (I would say be competitive, but I know how I drive).

I need to pick up a couple "mini" nuts for underneath (one of the outside holes is stripped), then it will drop right back in. I have a set of stock steering, already with the zip ties on there (I remember that from BITD).

What is the consensus...Protech or Viper? (wishing for more options, I just cant see dropping $30+ for a buggy body that I am going to run).

Pro-tech, I think it has better curves than the viper. It looks a little more old school, goes with a gold tub nicely.
