help with transmission differences...

I've had my RC10CE with Stealth since the early '90s and am looking to build one up for my 5 year old. I'm trying to figure out the difference between Stealth, 6-gear, and 3-gear transmissions on listings.

I'd appreciate a quick primer or direction to the thread that already discusses it. Thanks for any help!

the 6 gear was the early tranny it did the job, but took alot of work to run real good
the stealth (3 gear) was the later tranny reliable and efficient
farmer

my spelling not so good! but i can DRIVE the wheels off anything!

If there’s no difference, why then would they mark the header card 10T? Clearly a later header logo, time period?

The 6565 is the correct case for app early 2.25 Stealth vehicles. The Worlds re-re used a different case and idler gear but the early parts are generally considered better.

As to the packaging, who knows? Saying that they were inconsistent would...

I have been trying to absorb as much as I can and relearn some things of the past. During my search, I have developed some more questions that I hope that you will indulge me on regarding the RC10 transmission.

If you have an original Stealth, it uses a 45 tooth diff gear, a 20 tooth top gear so it's 2.25:1 ratio.

I don't know if there is a thread about this somewhere, but what are the differences between the b2 and b3? They look very similar to me and I know there was a b2 to b3 conversion kit back in the day.

Seems to be lots of differences but a good read for me as I will happily take a B2 or B3 or a B3 converted as I know these are getting thin on the ground!

CAT XL to XLS, what changed??
I remember when the original SWB came out, then the conversion kit came out quickly afterward, then you could buy the XLS, but I don't remember the XL being available as a kit, but looking on the front cover of my...

Compared to the XLS the XL CAT....

...does not have turnbuckles
...steering bellcranks does not pivot on the brass inserts but on the screw itself (nut on top)
...has rear stabilizer bar
...has zero degree front shock mount
...only has one hole...

pkay guys.. What exactly is the difference between the 6 gear, the non 6 gear and the stealth trans. Pros and cons of each? Years each was avaliable?

The stealth will outperform the 6 gear trans in all those areas. It has less gears, for less rotating mass making it just more efficient and smoother.

In That case, I think I really need to get a set! Btw, where can I get the alu type stealth, if...

I'm new here and I hope this is the right place, I was wondering what the Width difference is between the RC 10 Buggys compared to a RC10t Truck? Are the A-Arms interchangeable?

The trans on the left came off an LXT I had and the right an X2. The outdrives on the LXT look beefier, are they fully interchangable? They look like they do away with the rings the X2 has between the case and outdrive?

I wrote up a list of differences between the old and new RC10 parts. I'm running it by the engineer in charge to double-check. I'm hoping I'll be able to post it here when approved.

Those of you who have already spotted differences by the photos...
