Post by KyoshoScorpionKid »

Hello
I've searched google but I thought I would ask since I know someone uses them, do you have a good place to order nuts like these?

I've purchased lots of items like this from RCMart. I searched the online store for "flanged" and got this, plenty of colors & sizes to choose from. You didn't mention what size of nuts you needed.

It's good to note that Tower way over-charges for colored nuts. $12.99 for 4 colored lock-nuts?? Really?!

Short ones? As far as I can tell, I've seen 2 kinds of anodized nuts; a normal kind and a low-profile kind. Maybe the ones in your picture are the low-profile ones. They come in both flanged and normal style. I wouldn't use the flanged ones unless I needed the nuts to lock onto a plastic surface of some sort. I use the unflanged kind for pretty much everything; shock towers, wheels, suspension link mounting, etc.

That's the thing I don't want short profile ones, like the ones in my original post. They are going to be used for Axle nuts so having the short ones on there look terrible.

I think it was Jake(bigjeepzz) that did a home annodizing setup with some really good results. If I remember right he had some mixed results in different items but something like this doin all nuts would be good even coloring.

Right now someone is getting(might be done now) an order of red annodizing together in the b/s/t area. If I get it the more people the less it is...something about tree counts(?) but its been done on here too.

Tamiya has those colors except purple and pink. Contact Borgfeldt Canada. Glenn will help you out.

Keep in mind you can anodize aluminum only. Most nuts that are a regular finish (zinc-chromate) are steel.

I once had my nuts anodized blue just to prove a point to my wife. The process wasn't so bad, but removing it with oven cleaner and steel wool was pretty rough!

Just leave them blue...you'll need to prove your point over and over and over

Good point! I'll at least wait 'til the redness subsides before I go in for a second coat.

Sorry everybody. I will gracefully bow out of this thread before the derailment is irreversible.
