tamiya 501x wheels on champ edition gold pan

i was looking around on tower for 2.2 wheel ideas i have read the other posts on using duratrax rims not sure i like the idea of plastic wheels?? i don't bash and it's going to be real limited on race track visits just was curious if anyone has tried them?

I keep hearing the duratrax are plastic but if you read the description on towerhobbies site they say they are made of nylon.

dunno about the tamiya wheels, but stay away from the duratrax 2.2 wheels.

plastic or nylon, either way they are junk.

Either that or you are really bad at gluing tires-- :| are those busted along the edge?

yeah, the plastic wheel lip that holds the bead cracked and broke off. i assume they were breaking little by little each time i came off the huge first jump at the first vintage nats.

i had 3 sets i carefully prepared and glued up, thinking i was totally covered on tires... once i saw the first wheels destroying themselves i tried to string them along as long as i could so i could have one good set of wheels for the last round of qualifying and then a set for the main.

covell hooked me up with some killer balanced b3 wheels the last day and i didnt have to worry about exploding a wheel.

Ditto on the Duratrash wheels.
