Kyosho Triumph

Post by Bullfrog »

hi guys, this is one of my projects i've been working on, its been built with all new parts, shocks are going to be changed because the front shocks are the wrong size, they need to be the medium length kyosho shocks, all i had was the short set, I'll end up using this set for one of my Optima builds. Also wheels will come of and i'll be running a set of white HPI wheels the same style. I've also got a brand new body set to use as well, so my Green, Blue and white colors will be used in this paint job, Feel free to add coments, espeically set up tips
Cheers Bullfrog

That looks good Bullfrog! I've got one coming together that I want to run this summer...we'll have to see if I have the gumption to put such a beautiful car (always had a really soft spot for double deck chassis'd cars!) on the track. You wouldn't happen to have another body would you?

You have a nice car!
And not so usual to see, eeven at the time it was produced.
Unfortunately, I think that it has the only Kyosho body I do not like: strange shape, quite vertical, no dynamic effect.

Will you install vintage electronic equipment?
local club president, but also family team manager - mecanic - official sponsor, and some times cruising my RC cars......YES!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice! I don't like the original Triumph body too. I think it has and odd mix of angles and curves.

That looks great!

I had the same problem with the front shocks on mine, they're a real bite to find if you don't start with a complete car.

That body wasn't too pretty either compared to the Ultima series it was meant to upstage, but that trans was an awesome mod for older Ultimas.

I kind of took a different route with my Triumph restoration....I replaced the electric motor/trans with an Estes rocket engine. The body was swapped for an Associated DS Mustang....Box art it ain't, but I'm happy how it turned out.

Those chrome HPI's look excellent on any Kyosho.
Projects and shelfers:
Late Edinger, RC10B2, Dual Sport, GT, Kyosho Turbo Ultima, Triumph, Tamiya Sand Scorcher, Blackfoot/Monster Beetle, '67 Beetle, Nikko Rhino, Traxxas Fiero, Slash, Hand-built Dune Buggy..all on here somewhere...

I'll have to agree, the body isn't the best looking, hopefully my paint job will hide its shape.

What a popular question lately.
The front wheels are hell to find.
Try a search on the subject and you'll find the long answer... which actually comes down to the above

For the other wheels: apparently you can press fit 8x4 bearings into some imperial sized front wheels and for the rear there are heaps of choices including the current ultima RB5 rear wheels.

I used to race a Triumph back when they were new to the scene. Definately a step up from the Turbo Ultima I used to race prior to it. Not that I was any good but liked the car for many years so it stayed in my collection. I loved the spoke rims some of the other cars were running and i had to make do with what i had ( or what i could modify). In the end the original body went and I managed to get a B3 Deja Vu Tu body to fit. Probably looked its best just before I sold it. :(
