Jrx2 wheels - information on the wheels used on older Losi
hello All,
I thought it would be helpful to have a single place where we can post information about the wheels that were used on the jrx2 and other vintage losi vehicles.
Feel free to post pictures and information of the stock wheels in addition to the many after market wheels that were available.
Regards,
highwayracer

Re: Jrx2 wheels - information on the wheels used on older Losi
Hello All,
I wanted to provide some information on the orange wheels...
The jrx2 originally came with the light orange wheels. These wheels were made from a very brittle material. Small cracks developed around the bearing holes because of stress and the type of lube that was in the losi ball bearings. This is the wheel that you can not dip in acetone because it will melt.
About a year and a half later, losi released the following colors:
yellow
wild red
white
new slightly darker orange
These wheels were made from a different material which is similar to nylon.
Below is a picture where you can see the slight differences in color:
Left - Yellow
Middle - Original light orange
Right - New dark orange
UPDATE new information added:
There's also a clear wheel that was made using the newer type of plastic. We all recently saw the gray wheels (thanks Rich)...but I believe those were strictly prototypes...never seen or heard of those before.
Hope this information helps...
Regards,
Roger

Re: Jrx2 wheels - information on the wheels used on older Losi
My contribution-They look OK in red, too.
The dark orange 5 spokes are my firm fave, though (thanks Gary!!!)
These wheels were bought for US$2,no photo on the ad,just a mysterious discription of 'Losi front wheels, vintage. Not sure what car they came off'.
They cleaned up REALLY nice, almost perfect and the Losi step pins look right at home, though not correct,on the front of my JRX Pro.

Re: Jrx2 wheels - information on the wheels used on older Lo
I just picked up an early JRX2 and was pretty stoked to see what appeared to be early orange wheels with it. I got to scrubbing them today white fronts/clear rears, must have been some orange-ish clay on them. Still cant get all the clay off the tires.

IMEX made wheels, Proline made wheels as well.
For later years of Losi (XX series), Schumacher made their 3 spoke wheels, Peak racing had a 6 spoke wheel as well.

Never left, just lurked for a while. The JRX2 fell in my lap, I was talking to the guy about an RC10 and he sent me pics of the JRX2, so both cars came in a box to me

Hi,
I Know trinity made rims for the losi, here is mine with a green set, pretty sure they had a range of other colors.
