Traxxas Nitro Lineup 1998

Post by Dangeruss »

Traxxas, going for the word play with their, "it's easy to get started" ads in 1998 touted the virtues of the TRX PRO 15 engine and preinstalled EZ START electric starter system:

Nitro Stampede: Unveiled in 1996 as a gas version of the 1/10 2wd electric Stampede monster truck. Same 4-wheel independent suspension design but only shared the plastic bodied oil-filled coilover shocks, front tower, body mounts, and tires. Twin aluminum plate chassis and plastic sub frame, beefier skid plates and lower a-arms with turnbuckle camber links. SRT style caster/steering blocks, a-arm brace, rear arms and hub carriers. Updated 3.75 geared planetary transmission. Terra style rubber tires on SRT white nylon 2.2 wheel. Fully assembled with or without a radio system:

Nitro Rustler: Debuted in 1997 to replace the 1/10 Nitro Hawk stadium truck. Aluminum plate main chassis and plastic upper deck, bolt-on front bulkhead, a-arms, turnbuckles, caster blocks, steering blocks, front axles, stub axle carriers and rear axles from the SRT race truck. Metal geared planetary diff inside a 2.81 nitro specific transmission case with ball bearings, slipper clutch, and disk brake. 2.2 Mini pin and multi-rib tires and SRT cone dish wheels. Assembled with or without Traxxas' new TQ radio system:

Nitro Sport: Released in 1997 as a lower cost version of the Nitro Rustler. Lower chassis deck made of plastic and aluminum. Direct steering system featuring adjustable turnbuckles connected directly to the servo saver. 2.81 planetary transmission sans slipper clutch. Specially tuned TRX .15 engine with smaller aluminum head, restrictor carb with no low-end adjustment. 2.2 cone dish wheels with mini pin/multi rib tires. Fully assembled, either with or without Traxxas' TQ radio system. First Traxxas vehicle to receive the EZ start system:
