Kyosho Nitro Lineup 1992

Kyosho displaying its ever-expanding lineup of Nitro Powered 1/8 and 1/10 vehicles in 1992:

Inferno: 1/8 4wd nitro powered off-road buggy released in 1991. Aluminum pan chassis and one-piece aluminum radio tray with glass reinforced nylon construction. Four-wheel independent double a-arm suspension with adjustable camber, twin bellcrank steering, spring loaded servo saver and adjustable tie rods. Aluminum shock towers supported aluminum bodied, gold anodized, oil-filled, coilover shocks with adjustable collars. Twin disk brakes, pinion and spur primary/ shaft driven 4wd system, steel bevel gear diffs front, rear, and center. Universal shafts passed through aluminum front knuckles and plastic rear carriers supported dogbone axles. One-piece seven spoke nylon wheels sporting a set of BSW-40 mini pin tires. A flip top gas tank, bearings, clear lexan body and wing were included in the unassembled kit, which was sold less motor, muffler, starter, and radio.

Inferno DX: Entry level version of their 1/8 4wd nitro powered Inferno buggy released in 1992. Same aluminum and nylon construction, four-wheel independent suspension and twin bellcrank steering. Revised aluminum shock towers held new nylon bodied, oil-filled, coilover shocks. Twin plastic disk brakes, lighter aluminum bevel gear diffs, dogbone axles, aluminum front knuckles, plastic rear carriers, one-piece seven spoke nylon wheels and BSW-40 mini pin tires. A screw top gas tank, bushings, redesigned front bumper and new clear lexan body and wing were included in the partially assembled kit, which was sold less motor, muffler, starter, and radio.

Ferrari F1: 1/8 2wd nitro powered Formula 1 car released in 1992. Aluminum plate chassis with plastic top deck and rear diffuser, four-wheel independent double a-arm suspension with rocker actuated/inboard mounted aluminum bodied oil filled coilover shocks. Adjustable single bellcrank/servo saver equipped steering system. Inverted O.S. MAX 12 CZ-R with exhaust restrictor and mechanical cooling fan. Pinion/spur/shaft driven bevel gear diff with bearings and dogbone axles. Single piece wheels and foam tires. Clear Formula 1 style body with molded nylon front and rear wings, bushings, screw top fuel tank, and pull starter included with the unassembled kit sold less radio.

Porsche 959: 1/8 4wd nitro powered on-road car first released in 1991. Based on the Hobao Pirate this model only lasted one year before reintroduction as an Inferno 1/8 nitro buggy based car in 1992. Aluminum chassis/radio tray, glass reinforced nylon construction, four-wheel independent suspension and twin bellcrank/spring loaded servo saver/adjustable tie rod steering. Aluminum shock towers held aluminum bodied, gold anodized, oil-filled, coilover shocks with adjustable collars. Twin plastic disk brakes, steel bevel gear diffs, dogbone axles, plastic front knuckles and rear carriers. Four-piece five spoke silver finished nylon wheels were nestled inside245/40/17 front and 335/35/17 rear Pirelli P-Zero tires. A .21 motor flip top tank, bushings, and highly detailed multi-part clear lexan body with molded plastic trim were included with the partially assembled kit, which was sold less radio.

USA-1 Nitro Crusher: 1/8 4wd nitro powered monster truck unveiled in 1991. Based off the 1/8 Burns 4wd 0ff-road buggy. Equipped with a plate aluminum chassis and nylon constructed four-wheel independent, camber adjustable, double a-arm suspension. A twin bellcrank steering system with spring loaded servo saver and adjustable tie rods just ahead of the plastic radio tray. Midship mounted engine with pinion/spur primary drive and center mounted bevel gear diff. Metal dog bones led to front and rear mounted bevel gear differentials whose sealed gearcases doubled as suspension bulkheads. Steel front universal axles with aluminum knuckles and dogbone with nylon rear hub carriers. Tall aluminum plate shock towers front and rear held eight Kelron bodied, oil-filled coilover shock absorbers with new lower shock pivots. Aluminum finished 2.8 nylon wheels wrapped in 6.5x4.13x3-0-KC chevron pattern tires. Highly detailed clear lexan 1990 Chevrolet Silverado body with chrome bumpers, grille, twin tube roll bar, off-road lights, mirrors and triple Predator style carburetors with air cleaners and top covers. A full set of USA-1 decals, disk brake system, mini front bumper, fuel tank, muffler, and a combination of bearings and metal bushings were included in the unassembled kit which did not include an engine, radio, or electronics.

Corvette ZR-1: 1/10 gas powered 2wd on-road car debuted in 1989. Based on the Rampage buggy. Use the same aluminum plate chassis and molded nylon construction for the suspension, steering and drivetrain. Included the O.S. .12 CZ-R engine with recoil starter as well driving the same pinion and spur primary drive, prop shaft, belt final drive and bevel geared differential. Kyosho however, fit a highly detailed lexan representation of the namesake Corvette body and silver machine finished plastic wheels shod in 320/35/20 Bridgestone Potenza radial pattern tires to create the ZR-1, which was sold as a partially assembled kit with bushings, less radio and batteries for the receiver and glow plug ignitor pack.

Thunderbird Stock Car: 1/10 2wd gas powered on-road car released in 1991. Based on the 1/10 2wd off-road Rampage buggy with an aluminum pan style chassis, molded nylon for the front and rear bulkheads and four-wheel independent lower a-arm/fixed camber link suspension. Auminum capped, nylon bodied, oil filled coilover shocks canted towards new lower profile aluminum shock towers front and rear. Inline axles actuated by adjustable tie rods leading to twin bellcranks with a built-in servo saver. O.S. .12 CZ-R engine with recoil starter, pinion and spur primary drive, prop shaft with belt final drive connected to a bevel geared differential. Metal dogbones, plastic rear carriers, black nylon wheels, green dot foam tires and bronze bushings. A clear lexan T-Bird body, large front bumper, flip top gas tank, four AA receiver pack and four D-cell glow plug ignitor pack were included (minus batteries) with the partially assembled kit, which was sold less radio.

Outlaw Rampage: 1/10 gas powered 2wd stadium truck released in 1991. Based on the 1/10 2wd Ultima Outlaw stadium truck, aluminum pan style chassis and nylon components, Lower a-arm/adjustable camber link suspension; aluminum capped, oil-filled, coilover shocks, aluminum towers, twin bellcrank steering system, built-in servo saver and adjustable tie rods. Powered by an O.S. CZ-R(K) .12 motor, pinion and spur primary drive, prop shaft with slipper mounted belt final drive, bevel gear differential equipped transmission and steel dogbones. 505/55/22 Bridgestone Sand Super pin style tires, deeply offset single piece nylon wheels and metal bushings. Clear lexan Ford Ranger body topped the unassembled kit off which was sold less radio.

Rampage: 1/10 2wd off-road gas buggy introduced in 1989. Aluminum plate chassis with molded nylon lower a-arm and fixed camber link four-wheel independent suspension. Aluminum capped nylon bodied oil filled coilover shocks supported by aluminum shock towers. Inline axle blocks, adjustable tie rod, twin bellcrank steering system with a built-in servo saver sandwiched under an aluminum front plate. Midship mounted O.S. .12 CZ-R engine with recoil starter delivered power through a pinion and spur primary drive, prop shaft, and belt final drive to the bevel geared differential with metal dogbones. 340/30/20 M and 195/60/20 S-S Knobby Bridgestone tires mounted on yellow dished aero disk style wheels spun on metal bushings. A clear lexan body, mini front bumper, four AA receiver pack and four D-cell glow plug ignitor pack were included (minus batteries) with the unassembled kit, which was sold less radio.

Nitro Thrasher: 1/10 4wd Nitro powered Monster Truck released in 1992. Based off the GP-10 4wd nitro platform. Aluminum plate chassis and Kelron/glass filled nylon construction. Four-wheel independent suspension featured lower a-arms with suspension limiting screws and adjustable camber links with damping via four plastic bodied, oil-filled, coilover shocks hanging from aluminum shock towers. Twin bell crank steering with spring loaded servo saver and adjustable tie rods. Mid mounted motor, pinion and spur primary drive, bevel gear diff equipped prop shaft and final drive belts with bevel gear diffs at each end of the truck. Dogbone axles, plastic front knuckles and rear carriers, two-piece, high offset, white nylon wheels and 5.4-inch-tall V-Tread Monster Truck tires. Highly detailed Ford F-250 clear lexan body with chrome plated grille, side mirrors, triple roll bar, off-road lights, as well as front and rear bumpers. The partially assembled kit included bushings, an O.S. .12 CZ-R motor with recoil starter, muffler, screw top fuel tank, fuel bottle and glow starter, less radio.

Stinger 4wd: Belt driven version of Kyoshos first 1/10 gas powered 4wd off-road buggy, the MKII was released In 1988. Constructed primarily from EX66 nylon. Aluminum plate chassis and plastic top deck with a 4-wheel independent lower a-arm and adjustable camber link suspension. Twin bellcrank steering system with a built-in servo saver and adjustable tie rods. Kyosho's red andodized, oil filled, aluminum coilover shocks with adjustable collars at each corner were supported by an aluminum plate tower out back and bolted directly to the gearbox up front. Belt driven 4wd system with sealed cases contained bevel gear differentials. Three-gear transmission, centrifugal clutch pinion and spur primary drive with metal dogbones all around doled out power through aluminum front hubs and plastic rear carriers to nylon three piece "phone dial" wheels with knobby Bridgestone 340730-20-M tires. A plastic front bumper, fuel tank, aluminum muffler, mounts for an Enya .09 or O.S. .10 motor, Kyosho's Zip starter, bushings, and a clear lexan body was included with the unassembled kit that came without a motor, radio, or electronics.
