Team Associated Cliff Lett Kent Clausen RC10L RC10LSS Ad

Post by Dangeruss »

In 1989 Team Associated would enter the 1/10th scale electric on-road racing market with the RC10L. A scaled up version of the RC12L it shared a number of parts between them. The 10L featured the same coil over kingpin a-arm front suspension with wire tie rod, locking collars and Kimbrough servo saver for steering. The rear end was also substantially similar to the 12L with a coil over friction plate t-bar suspension supporting the centrally mounted motor pod. An aluminum motor plate and nylon bulkhead supported the ball bearing differential equipped direct drive rear axle with offset spacers to adjust ride height. Nylon wheels with foam tires were included but a body and electronics were not. The 10L was available in multiple configurations of both fiberglass and carbon fiber pan style chassis with cutouts for saddle style battery mounting.

In 1990 Team Associated released the RC10LSS, a Super Speedway version of the 10L designed to offer increased high-speed stability. Roughly an inch narrower while riding on the same wheelbase it had an SS specific chassis and motor pod plates, reinforced damper post, cone spacers replacing the t-bar thrust washers, and stronger body mounts. Just as the 10L the SS was available in fiberglass and carbon fiber versions:
