Kent Clausen's 91 Insane Speed Run RC10lss
does anyone have the rcca issue with this car in it (91-92), and would be willing to either scan the article the article for the scan archives, or make copies of it for me?
one day in the future, i'd like to do a somewhat faithful replica of it. thanks in advance.Re: Kent Clausen's 91 Insane Speed Run RC10lss
If you search around on the Jconcepts website, you will find a little more story on Kent's car. I think Jason Ruona bought it at the old Race Rock restaurant auction in Orlando. I'll try looking for the link to post. It had some nice as it sits now pictures. I saw that car in person, we were eating dinner there on a school trip, I turn around and it was in a display case right behind our table! I was excited but no one else got it

after i saw the thread for the car on jconcepts site back in january, and that kent popped in to talk about it, i posted on there to try and get kent to come over here to check the place out. whether he did or not, i don't know.markt311 wrote:If you search around on the Jconcepts website, you will find a little more story on Kent's car. cool, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to recreate the car as it was a mostly stock 10lss. The batteries and body are another story though. did this one use a narrowed body?, if I recall correctly AE made the jag body specially for the speed runs

i really don't know about the body. that's what i'm hoping to find out in the article.markt311 wrote:cool, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to recreate the car as it was a mostly stock 10lss. as you said, it should be easy to re-create, which will be nice. the only issue would probably be finding all of the decals. but those are the last things to worry about anyway.

Ha i remember that car. i went to race rock about 7 years ago and saw it i believe i have a pic of it in the show case.
Re: Kent Clausen's 91 Insane Speed Run RC10lss
I thought there was already a BIG Thread about this Car here. If not here, one of the other RC Sites I go to. There was lots of discussion, Topless Pics, talk of how many cells it ran (10 maybe?), the Full name of the Guy who owns it now, etc, etc.
I was pretty sure it was here I saw it though.

Re: Kent Clausen's 91 Insane Speed Run RC10lss
alright...... this isn't gonna be quite as easy as i had originally hoped. who'da thought.
i already found the red label scr cells i'll need. that's gonna be a small fortune, needing 12 of them.
now, looking at the chassis, it's definately not a stock rc10lss chassis. it also says it's not in the right column of the above pic. it says it's custom made. but, it kinda looks like i could modify a standard 10l chassis to make it work. i could narrow up the front of the chassis to lss width, use the lss rear pod, change the front battery hold down slots to the 6th cell slots on either side, then add the 2 new battery hold down slots in front of them. what do you pan car guys' think? i haven't owned a 10th scale associated pan car 1994, so i don't have the parts in front of me to say if it would work or not. so, i'd like to fall back a little bit on you guys' for some confirmation. now remember, i'm not trying to build an exact replica. just one that looks like it.i already found the red label scr cells i'll need. that's gonna be a small fortune, needing 12 of them.

Re: Kent Clausen's 91 Insane Speed Run RC10lss
well, for the batteries, you could cheat with current "mini" batteries. that scan does say 900 maH batteries, those have to be smaller than the 1200/1400 scr batteries of back then. just cover them with red shrink wrap.
just a thought...
