2.4ghz RX - Dual antenna orientation

Forgive me if this has been covered before. I did some searching but couldn't find the answer.

I recently dug up my old cars and purchased a new 2.4ghz setup. I'm not sure how to situate the dual antennas of the receiver.



As always, any help is appreciated.

I don't know if I can be much help but I run one antenna lead inside the tube and the other lead I shrink wrap to the outside of the tube. Both leads won't fit inside the tube.
I have a couple of these receivers and I've had no problems with them. Hope this is helpful.

Do you know if both antennas need to be positioned straight up?

I was thinking about running one up into the antenna tube and the second one laying flat, parallel with the chassis under the body.

That is an aircraft style receiver, those antenna are typically mounted 90* apart. Pull up a futaba receiver manual and you will see that.

So then mounting one through the tube and the other parallel with the chassis would work? Or would both antennas need to exit the body in a V shape?

I went with that receiver because it came with the tx module that worked with my FP-T3PB.

one laying down, and one upright...or in a V pattern...would be best. There again we arent flying our cars, so it is overkill. My only issue with dual antenna would be if the range is cut from having them located next to each other. I dont know if that is the case, or sometimes the case? But it sounds like at least one person is doing it that way and its working for him.

I went to Futaba's website and pulled up a manual for one of their dual antenna air receivers after you mentioned it which is where I came up with the V shape exiting the body. I prefer the clean look of just the one antenna (without the 2nd one shrinktubed to it) which is why I was thinking about laying the 2nd one down. Guess I had the right idea.

I think you would be just fine with one upright and one laying down.

I agree, the vee arrangement seems logical.
My antenna leads are parallel and vertical. I typically run my cars on a track in the back yard so I've never actually tested the range. Occasionally, I will run my cars at a large church parking lot and I've never have any range issues.
Maybe if I'm going to have a radio problem, it will come while running with other cars. I don't have that problem since I don't know anyone else in my area who tinkers with RC cars. It's kinda sad, actually.
