Worlds Build #2 Version 2014

Amazing how things tend to snowball. I started to build a Kinwald Worlds replica from a re-release kit, gathered a few vintage parts, cut the chassis, then it was pointed out that the original didn't have a machined tub. Now I had to source one of those....which lead me to thinking, why not build a replica of the 2014 version of the car he ran in 2104 at the Reedy Race of Champions as well?







So once again, after closely reviewing many pictures, a second Worlds kit was purchased, and the search for parts is on! At least it will be easier to find parts this time.....in theory!

Starting with the chassis, I figured I can reuse what I had....except for the minor detail of hole between the motor mount screws that was only done on his '93 car....crap...guess I'll have to use the chassis in the second kit (No worries, I have a plan for the first tub....stay tuned!). The cutting of the tub wasn't as terrifying as the first time.

I could use some help on a couple things though.
1. Does anyone have any idea who makes the 8/32 light blue locknut on the rear arm mounts?
2. Any ideas where I could source the neon yellow stickers? ANSWERED: stickit.com

Looks good, also, as I was looking over the rear set up, I noticed he is using B5 ball cups on the rear. I am using them on one of my cars, that is how I was able to spot it.

I noticed that too! But didn't have any B5 metric hardware handy. Kinwald must have changed to that setup afterwards because I found this pic of the original ballcup setup. That's why I don't feeling too guilty about running this



Any idea who makes that 8/32 blue locknut in the same pic holding down the rear suspension mount? Trinity?

No...that I dont know. Probably Trinity, but no clue what year.

Made some more progress tonite. Ended up changing the rear arm linkage after all to the heavy duty metric balls and cups.

Just a few more little bits to complete the chassis. Body will have to wait until spring before I can spray it in the garage.

I'm thinking I might have to either change the rims or perhaps convert to hex nuts and rims. Looking at Kinwald's car, the tires are further inward and closer to rear hubs.

His rear rims may be true B3 rears, not re-re. B3 rear wheels are wider.

There were standard b3 and b3 wide body.

how do u cut the chassis and the back plate to match what BK did on his buggy? did you dremel with a router bit or something else? I also saw in another BK replica thread the motorplate had relief cut on the side for cooling but I can't find it, although that looks like it was CNC machined.

The easiest way is with a Dremel then file and sand edges to finish it out.

Actually looks like a plain old Team Associated aluminum, blue anodized 8/32 lock nut. Maybe the low profile version.

I used these reinforced wheels and then filed the edges down.
