Go figure
Wait for tower and the others to release pricing. The original trans was $120 twenty years ago

$96 and no motor plate ($16), gear cover ($??) or felt gasket (unavailable)? I don't want to sound unappreciative that this has been re-released, but come on...

As mentioned, you can use the existing RC10 Classic motor plate, or any original motor plate that had holes for a stealth transmission. You could also still use the RC10 classic gear cover (without the plug), or you can use the new RC10WC molded gear cover.
As for the felt gasket, we didn't have the tool for that anymore and the 'benefit' of the gasket was not worth the cost of re-tooling. I know that might disappoint some guys.

Since the weather continues to be garbage, I decided to go ahead and build this one. While none of it was hard, several things were more aggravating than I thought.

I think its probably a little brighter than that. But you can experiment with different backing colors on some scrap lexan.
This car was backed in white, before covering it with black. A silver or grey would darken it up a little, but I think...
Just ordered this kit from AMain, also picked up another 1060 HW ESC for it. The manual says 30 to 22 turns brushed motor for this model. The LeMans 490, 30 T motor, is what's shown being used:
I bought this motor for $20, and can't find any...

Got the front bearing adapters recommended by juicedcoupe , thanks again! They work perfectly to adapt the smaller Kyosho axle and bearing to the larger Tamiya wheel hub. Will paint the adapters flat black, like the VW brake drums were.
the reedy race is around the corner and i am looking forward to watching it on Liverc.com. I hope the show the vintage class. I don't know if this is any indication of what to expect but:

Hi helios1, 85Edinger, stickboy007,
thank you very much for all compliments!
@helios1: I`ve cut the nose plate and chassis sides on my own. Both sides are cut down to 18mm. I`ve included some pictures.
Which 3 cars? Also are the Beetle bodys pre cut or finished?
They are pre-cut. The window masks are kind of a pain, as they are made from paper tape. They are easier to tear than the vinyl masks that most bodies have.
Amazing how things tend to snowball. I started to build a Kinwald Worlds replica from a re-release kit, gathered a few vintage parts, cut the chassis, then it was pointed out that the original didn't have a machined tub. Now I had to source one of...

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. I think I cut about a 1/4 off the sides. Weight loss, negligible. It looks cool, and the body doesn't rub on the edges as much.
I ended up drilling and tapping some 4-40 nuts. I'll post up some pics when I get...
