broke an old white narrow-track gold pan steering arm

Post by pcrussell50 »

thanks to this forum, i've successfully made my old narrow track gold pan into brushless/lipo/2.4GHz for basher duty.

even with the mild 3300KV stock associated/reedy brushless and associated/XP speed controller, THIS THING SCREAMS. an incredible basher. not sure i could learn to control it in a race without a LOT of practice and setup/tuning. i won a few trophies with it in the late 80's, in novice class by being slow and consistent and not crashing. it's such a completely different animal now, i don't know if i could do that again. not that i'm complaining.

anyhooo...

had a pretty bad crash right into a curb that broke one of the steering arms. it is the original white, narrow track suspension. now i'm away from my car, out on a trip for the next four days and i would like to order up a replacement and can't remember enough of what it looks like. i've been looking at ebay and found some steering arms, including some in black that could be the right ones. can someone link me to an ebay listing for the right one, or at least a good closeup of a photo of the _right_ one so I and try to match it in ebay? or if you have another source besides ebay?

also is there a front bumper this forum can recommend that will help protect the front suspension in a similar hit? there are lots of front bumpers out there, and i'd like to go with one on recommendation if there is one. i have an old ProForm from the 80's but it's not on the car. i would use it again, if it's recommended.

The original steering arm was a 6216, and they are part if the ReRe kit so eBay is flooded with them. Just search associated 6216

As far as bumpers, not a lot still being produced. Even the shorty rpm bumpers are getting rare. I can't recommend anything currently at a good price

And this will probably be of use. All the part numbers are in here. Machv is probably right, but "steering arm" can mean different things to different folks. With part numbers handy, you can stay off ebay and shop actual on line hobby stores.

It is odd bumpers are still scarce. You'd think one of the 6-7 guys who are cutting shock towers would have a bright idea and some Kydex.

I cut them once in a while for myself but they clog up my bits something fierce.
That would be a good one to outsource lol

Tower hobbies is still a great source with quantity discounts and coupon codes as well as cheap shipping. Get extras while they are reproducing them- front and rear arm mounts, bellcranks, even tires....all fresh and new

Yeah. Copy that. Two words. Tin Snips. I should do a how to thread because I realized the best way to go is just trace it on the material, and then rough it out with tin snips.

Then a coarse piece of sand paper flat on the work bench will take all the edges exactly where you want them. 8)

The kit has been discontinued a while now, it was planned that way, but parts are supposed to be around for a while 8)
