rebuilding 3500

Post by DMAT »

so while I was rebuilding the velineon 3500, I was looking on the inside of the motor and seeing a white build on the copper wires.

any idea what it is and how to remove it?

edit...corrosion.

so how to remove from the motor hmm...

I'll need to make sure w/e I use can be removed after cleaning.

guess i should give an update, I ended up just running it (motor housing) in an ultra sonic cleaner with a few cleaners, dish soap & some floor cleaner. I let it run for an hour or so. Dried it out with a micro fiber cloth so it didnt leave lint or anything inside it. Afterwards I push hot air with a blow dryer through the motor to finish trying it out. Seems like there was still a little corrosion visible but it did clean out some of it. Put it back together and ran the car about 30 mins later

That in combination with a tranny rebuild with new differential & bearing throughout the car and its run good as new.
