B3 transmission
B3 transmission
I want to go brushless on my b3 but I'm assuming the original stealth tranny won't be able to handle the power and scatter it...so what would be the easiest way to change it? Just buy all the b4 stuff? Or the thunder tiger xb's? Thanx

Re: B3 transmission
I'm currently running a Castle 4600/Sidewinder
The only real issue that I had was with the old style white idler gear. I've since swapped to the newer black idler and it doesn't wear as quickly.
Keep an eye on the stealth lube also, depending what you plan to run you may have to do a re-lube more frequently than you expect.

Oh really I was looking at the sidewinder esc's. did you change your top shaft and slipper? And where did you get the gear from? A b4?

Re: B3 transmission
I didn't bother with the B4 slipper since I don't officially race. I'm pretty conservative on the gearing so I can keep the wheelies to a minimum, 81/18 if I remember correctly. I can check when I get home for you if you would like.

Re: B3 transmission
So your using the b3 spur gear? I think I'm just going to get the reedy 4900kv 2 pole with a sidewinder esc

Re: B3 transmission
The idler I was talking about is the same as the B4 part# ASC9360 just make sure you get the black one, not the other.Yeah my B3's have the B3 2.40:1 stealth top shaft, slipper, spur. I pushed the 4600 4-pole up to a 81/19 last time I ran it, it could be pushed more I bet. The 2nd B3 I have has the 5700 4-pole running 81/18, I guess that's why I said 81/18 originally.
I've never used any of the castle 2-pole motors, maybe someone else here has. If you do go Castle, you'll definitely want the the field programming card.

Thanks for the info and part #. My co worker is going to give me his extra dynamite fuze bl esc and then I'm goin to et the reedy 3900kv. I know it won't be the faster but should be faster then the brushed reedy ds 20t in it.

Re: B3 transmission
I think you'll be happy with that combo, might not have the RPM that the Castle has, but I'm guessing you'll have quite a bit more torque

Re: B3 transmission
Yep I run an 8.5T brushless motor in mine with the B4 slipper modification.

Re: B3 transmission
The Reedy 3900kv motor is an excellent choice for a B3, I use that motor with the Associated ESC (out of a B4 RTR).B3rc10 wrote:Thanks for the info and part #. I also have the Reedy 4900kv motor, but it is too much (in my opinion) for the B3 - it wheelies too much, really hard to drive... 3900kv is more fun to drive and still wicked fast (18/81 gearing).
I run brushless in several B3 and T3 models, all have stock transmissions, stock slipper and all.

Re: B3 transmission
Alright so I'm brushless now. Picked up a mamba max pro fr $50 and a trinity nemesis 13.5t 3400kv for $30. Got the stock 81t spur with 23t pinion. At work on our concrete track it was a bit glitchy with the diff locking up. With a 2s 30c 5000mah lipo it does wheelies but the brake is pretty much gone and it doesn't reverse all the time lol. I kno it's not the esc tho and I can hear it trying to. I'm thinking I'm goin to buy the diff kit Asc7678, the black idler gear and I would like the b4 slipper setup. Going to be talking in to the local track rattlesnake raceway today to see what it does.
Re: B3 transmission
Dang flipwils11 that's a good looking b3! Once I get mine running proper ill be buying as much factory team stuff as I can find for it or just a bunch of thunder tiger Phoenix xb parts for it. Where did you find those white front arms tho?
