RPM Worlds Front End
Did the RPM Worlds Front End come in different variations? I always thought they all had tall front towers to be used with mid/long front shocks. But, I've seen several pictures posted with Worlds front ends, but with what appear to be stock (short) front towers and shocks.

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
The actual rpm kit had a shock tower that was similar to a 10t. Used 1.02 shocks or .71's in the lower holes

When I built my "B1.5" I made a custom tower to use a .71 just because. Mine was based off a standard front tower but narrowed.

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
Many are using some sort of custom front tower with the narrow front end. We could probably generate a pretty good list of front tower options.

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
RPM had (2) towers, Composite Craft had (1) truck tower that was common and (1) specific tower for the worlds conversion (Scr8p and Bob Stormer are the only ones I know of)
But other towers have been used, any 10t tower works and the RPM tower will use either .71's or 1.02's

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
I would swear that I read somewhere that the truck tower geometry is not great for a buggy, yet that's basically what rpm had. Did I read wrong or what is the deal with the towers geometry that isn't liked? I assume it has to do with the shock angle?
My home built was just aesthetic. I have no idea how it would perform but it looked good and has great travel with jakes arms.
If u want a custom tower hit me up, your not far from me.

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
if you're using a graphite chassis, not that they are easy to find, but you can use an andy's pro race front tower and run .71's.
i drew this one up on paper awhile back, bscotti drew it up in CAD, and atlas cut it for me. this one is for .89's.
this here is the super rare composite craft worlds tower reggie was talking about.
i sent it to bscotti to have him draw it up in CAD so copies could be made. Jay Dub handled those duties. made 2 different versions, one with and one without nose brace tube holes (the way the rpm towers were offered).

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
Is the RPM bulkhead the only option if piecing together a home-build 'long' suspension front end?
Can a 10T bulkhead & nose piece be used with RPM arms? (or other arm options?)

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
Yes the 10t bulkhead and nose are the right pieces. The most popular arms are from a member here but it will be a while before we see another batch. The member is seabass. The other option is dynotech Klein arms. They are sold individually on the dynotech website

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
Great feedback guys! Now I need to decide what direction to go...
Trying to decide if I should keep the Team Car stock and 'period correct' for the '92 collection, or if I should go after the long front end I've always loved.
It's OK if you all respond with "DO BOTH".

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
So, to bring this all together for quick reference in the future...
General Options:
- Full RPM original conversion with arms, bulkhead, and tower.
or
- Piece together 'long' front end.
Parts options for piecing together long front end:
- 10T nose plate
- 10T bulkhead
- Arms: various options available including RPM, Dynotech Klein, Jakes, custom home-built.
- Shocks: 1.02, .71, or .89 (dependant on tower selection)
- Tower: various options available including 10T, rccarbonworks, composite craft, custom home-built, Andy pro race (graphic chassis), etc.

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
Yup, you got it. I tried a set of custom works arms which are shown in that pic above and although they fit with minor trimming (for travel) the shock mounts are too far out to get good suspension travel. Now, with a 1.02 shock and truck tower they would probably be fine. I have most everything to mock it up I just haven't gotten around to it.

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
That was probably me talking about the truck tower. The RPM tower is wider across the top and solved most my issues with using truck shocks up front.gomachv wrote:I would swear that I read somewhere that the truck tower geometry is not great for a buggy, yet that's basically what rpm had. RCCW front tower & 10T tower (yes, I cut the center out for a better buggy body fit)

Re: RPM Worlds Front End
I used both .89 shocks and 1.02 shocks - not at the same time, this was to "demo" the 2 sizes.
