Some of you that have been around awhile might recognize this one. I have been looking for a Scorpion for quite some time but up to now I have not been able to find one that didn't need a complete restoration and/or was priced astronomically. I saw Jason's (J.M.) auction on ebay and put this beautiful car on my watch list. I was really torn about hitting the BIN because, while not unreasonably priced, it was still a significant chunk of change. After watching the auction end with the car still unsold I had a little chat between my wife, my wallet and myself. We took a vote, and thankfully it passed two to one.

With the hard part behind me I sent a P.M. to Jason and we made a deal for this fine specimen to make it's way halfway around the world. Jason put all of his not inconsiderable talent into the resoration of this car and it shows! The car is everything he said and more! The only changes I have made to this point are to clean up a small hole in the electronics bay cover, repair a small crack near a rear body post and replace a couple of stickers on the front fenders which were lifting slightly and add an HPI VW badge to the nose. Jason sent me two extra bodies: an additional Kamtec one and a slightly modified Sand Scorcher shell. Along with that I received a manual and stacks of NIP tires not to mention a second complete set of tires and wheels and some micelleneous goodies for this and some other cars. The only thing I need now is a magnificent beach to take pictures on, and a better film crew (me

). I set up a little booth to try and capture some shots worthy of this car but I'm afraid they don't do it justice. I'll work on that some more, meanwhile here's the car:
Unfortunately this does not seem to have slaked my thirst for Scorpions - quite the opposite in fact!
