How do I remove lexan paint from wheels?

Post by THUNDERSTRIKE1 »

I have two mint wheels for another xx Losi project but the (previous owner) painted them neon red instead of painting the discs. I soaked them with alcohol to remove the tires, and some paint cracked and pealed off but the recesses in the wheel are still painted.

Super Clean! Used to be called Castrol Super Clean. Also available as Purple Power at walmart and such places. Use rubber gloves or it will remove the skin from your hands.

This stuff works for me. Generally softens paint to a crinkle without turning it into liquid. Not as good if you're in a hurry though. Unlike the above, it works on lexan too.

Have you tried the Testors on lexan? If so did it turn the lexan cloudy in any spots?

No, the lexan stayed perfect. It stayed perfectly clear. Especially in comparison to areas where I had initially used a scour pad to scrub some really chipped paint away, but that's just fine scratch that will disappear with the next paint job. I recommend the Testors. It pulls paint off nylon really well too. I had some wing buttons and suspension parts that were painted, a few coats over the course of a Saturday, followed by a tooth brushing, and now they are ready for some liquid sunshine  !

That stuff sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I have a body or two I want to try stripping and some painted wheels as well. I'm going to have to place an order for a can and try it out. :)
