Value of NIB RC10?
Value of NIB RC10?
First of all, I want to apologize if this has already been addressed in any other threads. I did a search as best as I could, but couldn't find anything. I also looked on Ebay completed auctions, but was unable to find an exact match.
And I also know that "value" is ultimately a function of what a buyer is willing to pay, and can be difficult to objectively define.
With that being said, I've come across a NIB RC10 - all the parts are still in the appropriate packaging, and there has been no assembly at all. This is the "old" version - the 6 gear, model #6010.
My best guess is somewhere between $400 and $500, but I could be way off. I'm not sure if I'll keep it or sell it, but ultimately don't want to overpay.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: Value of NIB RC10?
My $.02. It really depends on what you want to do with it. If someone local has it for a very cheap price then you could turn it for a dime. If you are really wanting a mint shelfer than $400 - $500 would not be out of line at all. If I knew back when what I know now I would easily shell out that much for the display car I wanted. Though there is some fun in finding parts, I have spent over that amount gathering new parts to complete a car. Especially when you need a couple of white detail parts that you can only find for $25. Somehow spending less money here and there makes it not seem so bad but it adds up to a lot.

The reason why you didn't find nothing about value on this board is best explained here:mr_bungle wrote: I did a search as best as I could, but couldn't find anything.

and like you allready stated its really what the buyer is willing to pay. But just curious if you don't know if you want to keep it or sell it why buy it at all? Good luck with your decision.

Thank you for the input and comments. I figured I'd get a few comments of a certain nature, and that's fine. That's what's great about the internet, right?
As to the rationale on why I would buy it if I'm not sure I want to keep it, I think this sort of decision relates pretty well to other situations in life.
For instance, if I was able to buy a new house, or a new car which I "liked," and I was able to buy it at 1/4 the the market value, I think I would be pretty short-sighted to not jump on the deal. Either to use and enjoy, or sell it.
I hope that makes sense to those who wonder why I'd buy it if I wasn't 100% certain I'm going to keep it for the rest of my life.
Thanks again to all of you who took the time for constructive comments!

Re: Value of NIB RC10?
Turns out it was a NIB #6016, not a #6010 as I had thought. Got it. Unfortunately, the RPS Yokomo they also had sold a few days prior.
Re: Value of NIB RC10?
Well, I was very disappointed with the Yokomo being gone, but she didn't give it away, either. Sold it to another guy a couple days ago for $200, apparently. Both the RC10 and the Yokomo had an asking price of $200, so she knew they were worth something, but they also came from an estate, so she wasn't entirely knowledgeable on some of the r/c stuff. She was also trying to get $200 for a used Tamiya Frog, which I advised her would be difficult. Also had some other vintage stuff, including old Cox cars, the Frog, remotes, helicopters, etc.
The RC10 is indeed NIB, and the Yokomo from the photo she provided, "looked" clean. I would've gotten them both in a heartbeat, but I'm on a vacation and just showed up in the seller's city today. I've been shopping for a good condition Yokomo for a while, and just happened to come across the RC10, which I had several of as a kid. I'll try to throw up some of my photos of the RC10, if anyone has interest in seeing them.

Oh yeah, I got it. I'll throw up some pictures of what was inside the box in a couple days.
Re: Value of NIB RC10?
Nothing out of the ordinary, but everything still in the original packaging. Box is in really nice condition. Just thought I'd share for everyone to enjoy.

Not going to find those parts for less than $200. Good find, wise purchase.
