My prized RC10 gold tub NIB

Post by briang »

Wanted to share pics of my NIB RC10. Also has NIB Magnum Junior, and period correct batteries. I bought the lot a couple years ago and it's been sitting in my closet. I open it to take a peek once in a while. I'm trying to get up the nerve to build it. Let me know what you think.

I think you should build it! :P It doesn't look very fast sitting in that box

The guys at Associated designed these kits with the intention that they would be built and run. For their sake, at least put it together. If was an engineer and spent countless hours designing the RC10 only to have people let it sit in pieces in the box, I would be very disappointed. Just my 2 cents.

Input appreciated. I just needed some encouragement :) I'm not worried about decreasing value as I'll never sell it anyway. Might as well enjoy looking at a built car. We're supposed to get more snow this coming weekend, that would be a great time to start.

Screw that, keep it in the box. There are a boat load of new built, mint and almost mint buggies out there. Your NIB is very rare as most got built and beat to a pulp. If you so need one that is built, I have a pristine new built that I'd trade away in a heart beat for a NIB example.

i agree. once it's built, it's just another gold tub rc10. if it was mine, i'd leave it just the way it is, and build something else.

but that being said, it's your kit to do what you want.

X3. Once it is built it can never be un-built.

I know NIB RC10's are very rare. If you have never built one, I would say enjoy the build. Even though you could buy a nice used one, tear it down and restore it, it's just not the same as building a New In Box!

In any case your are lucky to have it!

Creamdream on both accounts. That is by FAR my favorite radio of all time. For what it's worth I would leave both in the boxes...

I may keep it as is for now and follow some of the advice and hunt for decent built one to compliment it for now. I do intend to build it one day, maybe not until the kids are raised and I need something to do. The guy I bought it from had it since new, I have the receipt he gave me somewhere. I believe he paid 450 for everything seen plus a charger bitd. He hated to part with it, but just had to get a latest, greatest callaway driver  This is the only vintage RC I've been able to buy local, which was cool.
