Stampede fix= AWESOME!
Long story short- My wife, kid and I go to a birthday party at my wife’s cousin’s house. “Cousin Eddie” as we call him(because that’s his name) and I are in the garage looking at 4-wheelers when I notice a Stampede in the corner. They have 70 acres of farmland/woods and are way into hunting and 4-wheeling. I don’t hunt, but love 4-wheeling. Especially when you can ride top of the line 4-wheelers anytime you want and don’t have to own one. I mention that I didn’t know he had any r/cs and point at the Stampede. He says “Yeah, it’s pretty cool , but it’s broke.”. I offer to look at it. It’s pretty well worn, but nothing seems broken. I notice right away after turning it on that the esc seems to be programmed wrong. I don’t know how to program it, but have an idea. Even after that it was clearly sending power to the motor, but wouldn’t turn. It has the Titan 12 turn 550 motor in it and looks decent. I’m surprised it doesn’t work knowing Traxxas’ reputation for reliability. I offer to take it home and fix it(free of course). I have maybe 40 motors around here and sift through for the right fit. I choose a 20 turn Traxxas Stinger. Seems the obvious choice. It looks new and came from who knows where. I strap it in and fire it up. Works great. I did get the Titan running, but the bushings are dust anyway. I take it out(tonight as a matter of fact) and what a BLAST! I can’t remember driving a truck this fun. Not even the Pumpkin. If a re-re Blackfoot comes out I may feel differently, but for now this thing is the best. I think with a good LIPO and a low kv brushless(2200 short can maybe) this thing would rule. I don’t see it breaking either. It’s built like a brick S#!T house. I have never burned nor praised Traxxas vehicles because I’ve never owned one. I have applauded their marketing, but never their cars. I will today. I may have to get one of these to beat around the house. Great truck!

The stampede is a great rc truck. I have an electric and nitro. You can get all aluminum upgrades inluding extended chassis and extended a-arms then they really handle good. The biggest problem with them is the white plastic yokes on the diff outdrives. They break all the time. Traxxas offers the yokes in metal and they are pretty cheap. If it doesn't have the slipper clutch as the older ones didn't, the clipper kit is only $16.

Tamiya makes the blackfoot extreme. It is 2wd and can add the front diff unit to make it 4wd.
