Scored a chassis and an aftermarket bumper from RPM (thanks Aaron!!!)
Re-installed everything on it the graphite
Bought some b4 wheels from proline (must have spacers to make em' work and eliminate rub, took me a while to figure out the right combo)
Assembled my wing
Rebuilt both sets of shocks to handle the huge jumps at our local track (some of the jumps will launch you 6-7ft high and 10-12ft long)
Changed from the pro shock tower to the proSE shock tower up front
Figured out some tranny/diff/slipper issues I was having (thanks Roger!!!)
Installed the Paragon 18x5 brushed motor with a 15t gear

Holy $&#! this thing is fast! Makeshift plywood jump at an angle similar to our local track, about a 15foot punch off at the jump, and the car was launching about 15-20ft and landing perfectly. I honestly think if I put LiPo batteries in there and gave it some more durable turnbuckles, I would be able to compete with the brand new buggies I was watching the other night at my local track. If not, the track owner said they're definitely starting a vintage class next month, and I don't know how you could make a faster vintage car with a brushed motor.

Got some more goodies and made some more changes...

jrxPro front shock tower
jrxPro rear shock tower...both really suck the suspension up into the car and lower the stance
GensACE 7.4v 25c 4000mAH LiPo battery
Modified rc10 battery cup
Lost a couple inches of 12ga wire...surprised how much it weighed
Good ol' Testers Gloss Black on the wing

Thinkin' about blacking out the wheels with some RIT...

Pete,

Glad to see that you car is back together. I forgot how mean a car looks when it has black wheels and a black body on it.

Regards,
Roger

Thanks man...and I still haven't had to get into any of the spare parts you sent me (yet, lol). Replaced the turnbuckles yesterday with some Punishers from Lunsford and I'm running the lipo in there so my "to-do" list to get it ready to race is getting shorter and shorter. All I need is a gear cover and a new body and I'm ready to put it on the track.

I could probably race it with the shell I have now, but the rear shocks are mounted on the front of the tower and like a dumba$$, I cut the body out before realizing that I really want to mount the shocks to the rear of the pro tower...so if I remounted the shocks and cut it again, I'd have a huge hole in front of the tower exposing the electronics.

One thing I'm struggling with a little is the ride height in the front. I have the pro shock towers mounted, and even when I put the shorter jrx2 shocks up front, it's still a little high. I can get the back right, but then the front is higher than the back. If I level the car and make the rear even with the front, then the rear is too high.

I have the shocks mounted inside on the top and outside on the bottom, and the springs are all the way to the top of the tower and it's still about 1/4 higher than it should be.

Any ideas...? Shorter front springs maybe?

Shorter front springs or maybe some that are a bit lighter spring rate as I assume the front springs you are using may be a bit strong. I'm not sure how you are fitting the .6 jrx2(and junior) front shocks to the .9 pro(and jrxt) front shock tower and still having it too tall, the pro front tower generally takes the .9 long rear shocks, you would need a jrx2 or pro-SE front shock tower for the .6 short shocks.

There is not much left there you could call a Junior 2 lol

Chris

P.S. have you run it much since putting it together? The front shocks may just need run in.

Yeah, it's not making a whole lot of sense to me either...maybe I accidentally grabbed rear (or pro) springs and put them on the front shocks. I'll dig through my spares and see if I can find something shorter or lighter.

I've been running it quite a bit, but just straight lines on the street and a few curbs here and there...no big jumps or tracks or anything.

Mystery solved...found some slightly shorter front springs and the ride height is even now...level a-arms in the front and level axles in the rear.
