Factory Works Ten4.1

Post by sandkil »

I’m glad I purchased a kit from Jeff when I had a chance.
It’s been stashed since September-24, but with the current situation there’s no excuse not to build.
Initially I was going for a MIP Legends feel with a powder coated chassis, but now I’m just going with a gold pan. Haven’t decided how to orient the battery just yet. Lengthwise or perpendicular.
Factory Works for the win!!

Hell yeah! I'm loving these Ten4.1 builds!
Couldn't agree more! Looking forward to see how you do this one.

Nice!...I personally dig lengthwise...hopefully u go with nimh and not lipo for that classic look!...Tenergy has some good cells that can be made to look like Sanyos with a little work

Yeah, I prefer the battery length wise as well. I'll be starting one soon. Just ordered a RC10CC chassis. Was originally going to go with a MSP RC blue chassis, but they told me they're not making them again any time soon when I asked they a couple days ago.

lengthwise presents a problem when using a shorty lipo, as the terminal is right where the belt sits. If using a conventional pack the leads exit the front so no big deal there. Our FW version of the lipo shorty tray is my favorite for this application as well as the rc10 4wd. https://factoryworks.com/shop/ols/products/fwlo

for the cost difference, I would consider using a stock chassis and having it re-anodized. The MSP was ok, but felt flimsier than the stock chassis and didnt line up as well, plus its a cut nose plate which makes life harder. The difference in price is about right for having one re-anodized if you can find a shop that charges a fair rate.

Unfortunately, that's why I started buying material to do my own anodizing. Nothing near me, at least nothing with reasonable pricing. Same problem with triple plated chrome around here. But I do really like the silver chassis also, so it'll do.

I pre-ordered a full MSP set before they came out, and after seeing the manufacturing flaws when they released them, I canceled my order. I didn't like much about their product. I know others have raved about them since, but I just didn't like their stuff.

I am starting to look at CCs as a possible decent parts grab as their overall value plummets. I saw a new-built, unused one on FBMP this past week for $200. That is a three piece chassis, shocks, wheels and tires, body/decals, trans internals, hardware/fasteners, etc.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Starting to sound like I ended up with the righter choice of chassis.

Seems like a good use for a CC 👍

I will build with classic electronics in mind.
Have Sanyos 1700 mAh laying around along with a Novak M1c and a brushed Reedy Sonic motor.
You guys know me by now and initially it will be a shelf queen as all my other cars. I like building cars.

Nose plate reworked. Steering rack mounted along with the belt tensioner

Looks great, +2 on the electronics choices. Wish I didn't wait so long to get one of these.
