Factory Works Ten4.1 project

Post by GoMachV »

OK OK even I got caught up in the last MIP "announcement". Should have known. So, lets do it again. The Ten4 was good, but the parts are just all out of date. The B44 front axles especially. Materials have vastly improved. Ideas have improved. Announcing the Ten4.1

I started by completely going through the front gearbox. I tightened it up around the gears and we will print them in PA12. The best part, everything I have priced so far will be cheaper than shapeways by a LONG shot. In fact some pieces will be half the price.

So, to start- here is the new shaft, idler, and pulley. The pulley is made in the style of the MIP Mipit but instead of a taper fit they are keyed with a roll pin. One change I am making is to the tooth count. We have room, and the MIP ran a 18t, so we are going to do that as well. The idler and shaft are both hardened. Best part, although this is just the sample before I do a run- the price is looking to be within a few dollars of the run we did 10 years ago. I'm aiming for $80 for a pair of pulleys, shafts, and idlers.

Now that the front gearbox is sorted, I am working on the front end and will update the post soon when I have more info. Everything will be on our Factory Works website once its ready.

no plans to limit it, but they will be done in runs. If the first 25 pulley sets sell, ill order more. I cant afford to get a couple hundred and then have nobody buy em like last time lol.

No, it is too far out to know but it should be less than it was 10 years ago. The same AE requirements will be there and the prices there might be quite a bit higher. Luckily we have FanRC. His diffs will be perfect and cost far less.

Just read about it on fakebooc but decided to come here to kick it around a little. So, I missed out on the pulley sets the first time as I was kinda financially strapped and hoping to get a couple sets this time around but was wanting to get the kit you are going to offer.

Taking preorders  ?

K

P.S. are these kits gonna be numbered  :?:

sorry...couldn't resist
Peace and professionlism.....Kabunga signing off!!!

Unlike Mr. Moore, Jeff won't hype us up and then put out a quick release screwdriver handle instead of this kit....

I hope.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Here is the direction I'm headed on the front end. One printed part. And even that might end up being machined or molded
