Machined delrin cases for SRB are finally here, and I had some bearing holders machined as well so I can offer the Tamiya version of the trailing arm kits. I'll have both on the website in a few days. To test the gearbox I made up some trailing arms for lay down shocks (as I lack any vintage roll bars to mount the shocks upright). The system works really well, I may end up just offering this as an option. This chassis is drilled for both the lipo tray as shown and Velcro straps.

The next parts made will be the spur adapters and rear cage mounts, followed by wide front end parts. Our existing power clutch fits with just changing to a 3mm adjustment screw. If these parts end up being worthwhile I hope to explore the cable drive as well.

Very nice Jeff , do I spy other front shock/suspension arm mounts as an upcoming product ? Always thought having bearings on the front suspension might be nice too .

yes, those new front mounts are bearing supported although just 3d at this point.

Been working on a diff as well. Tamiya has a ball diff and im not a fan of their design TBH. There isnt a lot of room and another ball diff on the market seems silly, so I am working on a planetary diff instead. Considered a bevel diff but the gears would be much harder to have machined. Tried working with off the shelf parts but they are just too big for the 40T gear. I think I can make this happen with 4 discrete CNC parts.

Ive got the Tamiya ball diff , much the same opinion , I like the diff idea you have there , always makes me think really hard to understand those ones .

I noticed also on the Tamiya diff that it causes some binding in the drivetrain, did you notice that as well? Going back to the solid axle everything is smooth. Wondering if I got a wonky one or if the brass gear is just tight

Mine runs smoothly with the other gears it just needed more lock tight to stop it slacking off , the dry lock tight on the screw is just not enough.

ok, mine actually has rough spots as its turning through the gears so maybe ill try another one and see if I just got a bad gear

Really nice work Jeff. The mitre gear diff looks awesome.
I don't know why Tamiya designed their ball diff in such a strange way. All they had to do was copy Thorp and MIP designs.
I've got three Tamiya diffs and they've all worked well enough. I did add extra threadlock on the through bolt though. So far, they haven't undone themselves.

What are those universals you're using in the chassis picture?

They are from crawlers, I reached out to the mfr and had a bunch made really short they seem to work well eve with the flex of the MIP style arms, but modern racetracks probably won't be compatible. I'll have some slider universal sets for sale along with the cases and trailing arm sets soon.
