RC10 Green Edition - Build
Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Are you going to run it or will it be a shelf queen? I just built a 40th gold pan just finished it and haven’t ran it yet.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
@Cdev, Do you have any tracks near you?
I don't have any tracks closer than an hour away, and I already know what happens when I drive these in gravel or on the road, it trashes the bottom.
I really like building them, rather than breaking or cleaning them - these days.
If they brought back the vintage buggy class and opened a track nearby, the incentive to run it would definitely be there. Honest wear is cool, jumping curbs in the road, at $400, is ridiculous - just made my last Paypal 4-pay not long ago

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
We have a indoor clay track I can run on non race days but they said if they can get enough vintage guys to bring them
Out they would start a vintage class. Using this site from my I phone can’t figure out how to post a pic

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Got one of the knockoffs drilled and tapped. The tap size is M3.5 x 6.

But once I finally got the threads in, I noticed the axles are too long.

Will cut the front axle stubs down about an 1/8". Have a backup pair of axles, in case I ruin this somehow.

Was gonna say the hex being visible is normal... then it occurred to me I may be focusing on the wrong part of the picture and you're talking about the threaded end not the hex end...GreenBar0n wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:22 pm Got one of the knockoffs drilled and tapped. The tap size is M3.5 x 6.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
The knockoffs are too short for the axles, turned out to be a lot of work again

Got the threaded stubs shortened.

Tamiya wheels and RC10 knockoffs are solid now.

Had these laying around, the motor is a definite yes, would like to find an era correct Tekin ESC in black and chrome, someday.

Still need a servo.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
The Dhawk-Racing RC10 knockoffs not being polished, in contrast against the polished Pargu wheel covers, didn't look right to me.

Loaded myself up with more work than I anticipated, once again, by starting to polish a knockoff to match the shiny wheel. Then took the wheels apart and am polishing the wheel cover too. Polished pair on the right.

Polished set on the right side - not yet completed.

Not even going to say how long this little bit of shine took, otherwise I might not complete it, and start on the other side. Diminishing Returns in full effect here

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Wheel covers are done and are showing the rag box in the reflection, decent shine, but the knockoffs are taking forever. Still only about 3/4 done with the one on the right, knockoff on the left is untouched.

Gives me more time to plan how to not ruin the paint and body.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Used a Futaba FP-S148 for era correctness, and called it done with the knockoffs and tire-writing.

The body and paint are next.
Will draw the design on the outside of the shell, and then learn to use Liquid Mask with air brush paint on the inside. I've not attempted anything more than a simple three color design before, will take this opportunity to try and make it more complex.
