Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Much thanks! I never had any patience as a kid, would always rush through a build of a Snap Tite model, without paint, and then wonder why it didn't look exactly like the box

In the last year I have tried to slow down and see if I could make something right, if I really tried. The painting will really be the test for me on this one.
Another 2 hours, gone, but my new earrings are looking shiny.

Had to hang these up and look at them, in order to be inspired to keep pushing forward, my thumb is still sore from yesterday's polishing

Two hours per shock?
That is why you start with a heavier compound first.
Probably a good idea to use fine sand paper or block before ever using the compound.

Those Snap Tite's were the perfect last minute drug store birthday gift as a kid, giving or receivingTRX-1-3 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 5:51 pmGreenBar0n wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 3:17 pm

You too, huh? The box art drew me in then the frenzy of snapping parts off the tree and following the assembly instructions took over. Paint was for chumps back then!

In the end, at least those responded well to firecrackers and BB gun's.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
After all of this work on the shocks, that orange doesn't seem so bad at the moment.

Should be able to complete this tomorrow. Two hours a day, of this, is getting old quick.
Time to start planning the body now that I have all of the colors of the chassis.

I'm trying to get a mirror shine on these, it takes time. Also using magnification, so I can see every flaw.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 4:48 pm Two hours per shock?

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
These shocks must be the right finish/color, because they disappear in to the design.

It would've been near impossible to match the chassis anodize with the shocks, had I tried.

Need to blue the front Tamiya/RC10 axles until they're black, to match.

Still need to clean up the tire writing too.

Tomorrow is another day, will pick this back up then.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Got the TeamCRP front axles blued and installed, shocks mounted, and the chassis nearly done.

Need to get the front knockoffs tapped for M3 in order to fit the metric Tamiya axles.

Still need to clean up the tire writing.

Did polish the nose tubes.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Verify the thread on those CRP axles. The last ones I got had M3.5 threads and came with M4 nuts. I also have an older set with M4 threads.

Damn, this thing looks great with all the polished pieces. Nice work. Might have to do my shocks once I start building mine.

Re: RC10 Green Edition - Build
Started toying with the idea of the boxart body on the GE. They used the Jammin' Jay Halsey '85 IFMAR front wheels on the GE (Pro-Line 100F Chrome).

Just now noticed the GE boxart didn't use the orange shocks either.
The GE includes the CC decals, notice how the number 10 is just an outline, and not the solid black like the 40th decals.

Will not be using the Camel Yellow boxart body on this GE, looks like the GE boxart is using Orange. Getting ideas together for the custom paint.
