Avid b4 top shaft/ Triad upgrade
Well, I did it. Rebuilt a stealth 2.25 with the Avid b4 top shaft and Avid Triad Evo slipper clutch (AV 1020-STK) . Some very good parts and it went off without any drama. New bearings and diff/thrust balls as well. Gears looked fine. Though this topic has been delt with extensively on this site and I have been combing it for days now, I have a few questions. First I may have picked up the wrong kit for it came with a 72 and 76 spur gear. Most posts show good results with the MOD kit witch contains an 81 and 84 spur gear. Would it be a good idea to start with an 84 and if so what pinion to match? The one I have won't nearly touch the 76 I have now. Also, id like to match or get close to stock specs with the aforementioned equipment I have if possible. Thanks in advance and please forgive me if it's already on this forum.

Re: Avid b4 top shaft/ Triad upgrade
Not sure if you are racing/bashing or what 17.5 motor, but my race setup yields 75/28-29 with a FDR around 5.0 for 17.5 Blinky with a Reedy SP5 with a 30mm motor fan, so with your 84 and racing you could look at 84/26-28 conservatively for racing to 84/21-23 for messing around I would think.
* the 76 spur is perfect, the 72 needs to have motor holes elongated to mesh correctly *

I'd go for a 6 pack of steel pinions
