*Rere world's hole. Same as CE and Team. The real world's car as well as the DS used a hole not on that bulkhead, halfway between the hole your in and the inner hole. Weird AE forgot, and since fan just copies the AE stuff he also left it out. The rere DS doesn't use it either.

Re: Fan RC FR-01
Well, my collection of "extra" parts is getting bigger and bigger, but I am not going to worry about that for now.

At least it's pretty easy to add them in. Still need to clean up the cut areas though.GoMachV wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 7:24 pm *Rere world's hole. Same as CE and Team. Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Re: Fan RC FR-01
Speaking of extra parts I decided to go with ceramic diff balls. So I'll keep the kit supplied steel ones for spare. RougeIV.... you said your diff felt a little rough. Just curious if you completely used the kit supplied stuff and if you tried to sand the diff rings first? And if not do you think that might help? Guess it can't hurt. When I get there I'll do the ceramic balls and some 800 or 1000 grit sandpaper on the rings and see what I get. Anyway kit looks great bud.
Morrisey0... looks great too. Love those tires and wheels.

Re: Fan RC FR-01
Not always but very often the gritty feel in the diff is actually the thrust assembly not the diff balls and rings.

+1
Would be good to see if someone with a "gritty" diff tried new diff/thrust balls
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

Re: Fan RC FR-01
And in the rere Worlds kit, they gave short rear camber links as if the bulkhead was set up to use them in that new hole. I'm sure the Fan stuff is the same.GoMachV wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 7:24 pm *Rere world's hole. Same as CE and Team. Re: Fan RC FR-01
Swapped over to traditional thrust plates / balls, and it made no difference. Going to swap back in the new style, and just start swapping parts individually until some improvement is witnessed. All parts appear fine, and run smooth when rotated up against individual parts, but once you put it together and torque it down, it really does get pretty bad.
EDIT: That didn't take long. Swapped the diff rings and it is night and day. Now the diff has a nice steady drag. Never really looked at the rings earlier, but they are nowhere near as smooth as the polished rings that I normally see.

Re: Fan RC FR-01
ahh dang, well thats good to know! I dont typically order his rings because I have some old stealth gears left over and his rings dont fit (the old gears have three nubs in the way of his larger diameter)

Re: Fan RC FR-01
I suspected that something like the diff balls and diff rings would be a candidate for quick replacement. I have yet to find a set of quality replacement rings. As I said I bought new diff balls but the rings I ordered are clearly the wrong size despite being told they would work. It sounds like there is an aftermarket set available? Would the original rc10 diff rings work or did I pick up on someone saying these rings are slightly different?
Anyway, great problem solving Morrisey0. That's great input; thanks.

Re: Fan RC FR-01
I just have old stock AE rings still, they are slightly smaller diameter. His rings won't work on original stealth gears but the other way around is just fine. It's just the difficulty of sourcing original AE parts until they decide to start selling again

I know this is going to have a simple answer, and I will feel stupid as soon as I see the answer, but, um nose tubes

Nice wheels and tires!
Maybe they pre-package all the same parts for use with a tub chassis?
