Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
Okay, now I’m done, so I figured I’d go down my 5-link runner build, here goes:
Junior 2 chassis
XX-T retrofit trans w/22 5.0 slipper
MIP XX CVDs w/XXX Gen 2 axles
Vintage RC lipo holder (modified)
Robinson side bulkheads
Factory Works chassis brace, steering and rear shock tower
Jammin’ Pro SE front shock tower
RPM front arms and lower rear links
Schumacher LD2 front hubs, steering blocks and axles (to run modern AE offset wheels)
TLR 22 5.0 big bore shocks, servo mount and wing mount (modified)
Schumacher and TLR turnbuckles and rod ends/ball cups
TBG Junior 2 body (which I butchered) w/MCI Racing decals
Savox servo, HobbyWing XR10 Stock Spec ESC and 1UP/Motiv/Team Glitch MC4 17.5

Oh that was you on FB! Great build. I didnt ask before but how's the geometry on the ld2 knuckles compared to stock?ChocoTaco73 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 6:56 pm Okay, now I’m done, so I figured I’d go down my 5-link runner build, here goes:

Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
I had to play with raising and lowering the bellcranks to get the right turnbuckle angles so bumpsteer was reduced. Also, the Jammin' front shock tower has taller holes for the camber link ball studs which works great with the Schumacher hubs as their camber link location is higher than the stock JRX2 hub. With the stock JRX2/Pro-SE tower the car would have a lot of camber gain and bump steer to try and get rid of. I'm sure it's doable either way, will just take some trial and error.

Not many folks racing with 5 link setups. I applaud you for doing it. Great thread you have put together. I really like the look of the 5 link set up for modern racing.
Great action shots!

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
It's nice to find on track pics of your car after an event. It looks good.
I'd like to go to the event one year. But until I start running modern cars, it's kind of a waste with only running 1 class.

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
You can run vintage cars in other classes if you want. There was a guy running a XX-4 in 13.5 wheeler with modern 4whls. Another was running an X-Factory car in 17.5 locked timing. There was a stadium truck class and they will let you run whatever old or new truck you like so there are options.

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
Thanks! The 5-link is fun but not competitive, I just try and stay out of the fast guys way lol Next year I'll probably switch to H-arms and see what she can really do. Funny enough, I've also run 5-link on carpet and because there is so much traction pushing is almost non-existent. You and up with so much traction all around that, as long as your suspension is stiff enough, it's quite stable and predictable.

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
I picked up an RC Screwz screw set from eBay but I wouldn't use them. The countersink angle isn't correct for the 8/32 screws and they don't sit flush.

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
The screws would most likely fit the RC10 just fine, but since AE and Team Losi 8/32 countersunk holes/screws used different angles for some reason, not ideal for Losi stuff.

Re: My JRX2 restore/race build
Best I remember, the RC Screwz kit for the RC10 doesn't fit correctly either.
