3/16" axle pins

Post by Mark Westerfield »

Does anybody have a location (like McMaster-carr) and part number to get the roll pins for the 3/16" axles in bulk?

Based off the specs on the avid pins this should work
1/16 by 3/8” steel pin. The Avid ones are 303 stainless steel.

I also found a lot of 1000 similar pins

Why do you need a bulk number of axle pins?

I haven't measured a roll pin but here a few at 1/6" x 3/8"

How do these hold up? I have switched from roll pins to solid axles at the wheels with brush-less power. I have been able to shear off the vintages ones.

If you are shearing a steel roll pin in a plastic wheel, something is off.

My guess is that you are overtightening the wheels and bending the pins, and weakening them.

IMHO, there are multiple other things that should break before that pin.

Broken roll pins are common in plastic wheels, just replace and keep going.

Not bulk but still cheap. I used these on my EGT. 1/16 and 1.6mm are within tolerance of each other.

I don't want to buy that specific pack of pins. The 8 pins look a lot like only 7.

Interesting that this topic came up - I am actually in need of a few roll-pins for the old 1/4-inch axles.

Does anyone know the measurements for those pins?
