I have been getting my 100* 8-32 1/2" screws from Fastener Express ever since I got back into the hobby, and I feel like each time I order, the quality of the anodizing / dyeing gets worse and worse. The bag of 50 I got today are simply terrible! I would never put these on a car to present in any way, shape, or form! What I have attached is not the worst of the bunch, but literally just a random sampling. Some seem to be fully anodized (or more correctly dyed while anodized), while others seem to have no color / dye at all (which makes me wonder if they are anodized at all), and most are somewhere in the middle.
Do you have a solid source of good looking aluminum pan screws you can share?

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.
I ordered some of these and they worked out great. I have a black pan so I really liked them. They were an exact fit. I have not ordered a second time though.

Well, a set of these screws used to sell for what, like $2. Now they bring $30+. So at $16 for an equivalent yes it’s high but also low. Just depends on where you are standing when you consider it. If you care enough that you want it to look right, imo $1 a screw is great. If you want functional then yeah it’s high.

I am tearing down my newly rediscovered YZ10. As I do it I noticed that most, if not all, of the screws going into the front and rear magnesium bulkheads are Aluminum. Interesting choice but I would rather just replace all of them with...

Thanks jwscab . That's what I thought. My chemistry/metallurgy is pretty rusty from college but I remember magnesium being particularly reactive. Really wish they used something else.
Anyone have any suggestions on the best glue to use? I've had good luck with J.B. Weld, but maybe someone has a better idea?

All you need is a $2000 tig welder and an inverter lol  jk the magic putty amazingly actually works pretty well. I just take it to work to weld, but my aluminum welding still needs some work, I'm good on stainless though
Does anywhere do stainless steel replacement chassis screws for the RC10 and 10T at all?

composites are abrasive. they will wear tooling out faster than metals, but you would have to make a heap of countersunk holes before you'd really notice.....though they won't cut as sweet after the first dozen times or so they will get the job done.
Hey guys, I was wondering if there was any place I could get small batch socket head and flat socket screws. I only need a handfull of screws to complete a few projects and I don't want to spend $12 on them which is what it would cost if I bought...
What's the best way to clean off lightly rusted screws? I have a slew of them from a bunch of used trucks I bought over the last year or so, figured I would take a shot at rescuing them before placing and order with McMaster. The ball studs are just...

I remember naval jelly from years ago, trying to treat the rust on my '84 Omni. I was looking at degreasers a couple weeks ago at Lowe's, and again today, they've been out of that stuff for weeks.
Soaked all the screws in Purple Power, rinsed them...
I know its been lifted before, but this is starting to get ridiculous.
Just got a delivery today. Talk about army-green!

Perhaps fastner express has supplied AE with blue 8-32 screws. The blue factory team screws I had where exactly the same as the green re re screws that came with the worlds car, just in blue. These are terrible quality the heads will sheer off on...
I need some Philips Chassis screws for my RC10 and my JRXT....I don't care if they are OEM or Aluminum or not, I just want the functionality. Can I get these from a hardware store with the correct countersunk angle?
